Little is known about Yahaba's early life prior to Muzan turning him, beyond his obsession with cleanliness and his friendship with Susamaru. Taking the lead during his and Susamaru's tracking of Tanjiro, Yahaba instructs Susamaru to kill everyone as violently as possible before using his powers to guide her temari balls to catch their prey off-guard. Hiding in the trees while Susamaru fights directly, Yahaba is forced out of hiding when he's attacked by Nezuko, and chooses to focus on Tanjiro, with the two having a one on one fight while the rest of the group engages his partner.
While he manages to keep the young Demon Slayer on the defensive, Yahaba fails to anticipate Tanjiro's Water Breathing techniques, giving him the momentum to power through Yahaba's tricks and slice his head off. Angrily cursing Tanjiro for leaving him face down in the dirt, Yahaba unleashes a final desperate attack in hopes of making Muzan proud, but dies regretful after Tanjiro manages to power through it.
