“ | Wake up. The only way we can defend ourselves is with an army.

The Woodbury Army is a massive group of armed Woodbury citizens rounded together by The Governor in order to kill Rick Grimes' group for the prison, and for his own personal vengeance against the group. Little is known about The Woodbury Army prior to the apocalypse. The Governor has stated that a few were veterans of the military.
The Woodbury Army practices martial law and extreme discipline in their fight against the growing number of walkers that infest the area. They also engage in covert hit-and-run operations against unsuspecting survivors in order to maintain ammunition and other precious supplies - most notoriously, they ambushed members of the US military and, after having killed all operational personnel, raided the camp for supplies.
After Rick Grimes' group made a rescue effort to recover one of their captured members, the Woodbury Army gears up for an assault on Rick Grimes' prison. The actual attack is somewhat anticlimactic, as the frightened citizen-soldiers panic under fire and retreat. Many are massacred by an enraged Governor in the aftermath of the failed attack, and the few survivors are forced to turn to join Rick Grimes' group to survive.
Battle vs. Joker's Thugs (by Lasifer and El Alamein)[]
The makeshift walls of Woodbury stand imposing in the dark of the night, masking the flickering orange glow of the bonfire that crackles within. The lone guards quietly keeping watch are the only residents of the fortified town not present in front of the fire, cheering as two men in the sand pit before them scuffle. Decomposed corpses strain at their chains, groaning feebly and waving their rotting arms sluggishly. These walkers are restrained and have their lower jaws and fingernails removed - they pose no threat. But the spectacle is magnificent. Merle Dixon shuffles back, a bared, savage snarl twisted across his lips, as he locks eyes with Cesar Martinez. Merle rushes forward and slams his fist into Martinez's stomach, who stumbles back and falls to the approval of the crowd. Merle plants a boot victoriously on Martinez's chest and holds his handless arm over his throat, the bayonet attachment hovering delicately. Martinez looks up and flinches as Merle drives the bayonet into the sand next to his neck.
"Merle wins!"
Merle helps his friend to his feet and they run back and forth through the arena, waving their arms and striking poses to the adoration of the spectators. It is a crisp and clear night, and in the midst of the happy Woodbury citizens sits an even happier Philip Blake - the leader of the town. Woodbury is his creation, lovingly crafted and even more lovingly maintained through deception and brutality. But Blake feels no shame or sorrow - it is a necessary evil, the men he has killed and the walkers he has captured, necessary to maintain the peaceful facade that his town represents. It is order from chaos. It is peace from violence. It is a paradise in hell.
And that is why Philip Blake is the Governor.

The pale, thin man hunched over the table and looked up with his eyes, rather than his head, staring into the empty-eyed clown masks planted on each of his henchmen's faces. His face was smeared with messy white makeup, his mouth outlined with a streak of bloody red facepaint. He licked his lips with a slight twitch of his eye and placed his hands on the table, on the crudely-outlined map that detailed the surrounding area. "This is the east wall," he said. "Only a few lightly-armed guards patrol this wall, at least as far as our observations have uncovered. It would be easy to infiltrate through there." The clown-masked thugs nodded in agreement, and turned to load up their weapons and equipment. "But - " the man said. "This is the north wall. And it is strongly fortified," he said matter-of-factly. "They won't expect an attack from armed men to come from there." He pointed down at the map once more, before snatching it up in his gloved fist and tearing it in half. "And a surprise attack comes best in plain sight."
"Hey boss," one of the clowns asked, casually slinging his rifle across his shoulder. "Why don't we just sneak in and take out the big bad of the town that way?"
The man snapped his head over to the clown and stared through violently angry eyes. Just as suddenly, he burst out with maniacal, uncontrolled laughter - and as he laughed, he approached his henchman. The laughing stopped as he reached the man, and with one hand cupped his head and in the other brought up a switchblade to the man's neck. "Why don't we just sneak in?" the man said in a dangerously low voice. "Why don't we just sneak in? Why don't we just do everything the easy way, why don't we?" He threw the thug to the ground and slipped his knife back into his vest. "Are there any more questions?" the man asked.
Silence.
"Good. Let me make one thing explicitly clear here, boys. Just because it's my name doesn't mean I'm always a joker."

"What is it now, Milton?" The Governor sighed and slowed his powerful stride to an impatient shuffle as his friend jogged to catch up to him.
Milton's eyes shone with excitement, and he trembled giddily as he spoke. "Sir - I've made that breakthrough we've been waiting for. You - you've gotta see it to believe it!" He gestured rapidly with his hands. "C'mon, it's back at the lab!"
The experiment room was a messily-cluttered warehouse, lined with rows of tables covered in papers and several complicated operating devices. At the center of the room lay a frail old man, restrained by straps to a bed. He looked dead.
"Mr. Coleman had just passed away a few minutes ago," Milton spoke rapidly in his excitement. "I have the experiment all set up. I played the music I always played when I asked him the questions, and I had the lights to the same low intensity, and th - "
"Get on with it Milton," the Governor rumbled. "We don't have all day."
"Er - yes, sir. Well, he reanimated but responded to my questions!"
The Governor looked Milton directly in the eye and gripped him fimly on the shoulder. "Tell me now, man, what did you ask him? What did he say?"
"It's not what he said, sir, it's what he did. Come." Milton squirmed out of the Governor's grasp and bounced over to the bedside. He took a deep breath to calm himself and bent over the dead body. "Mr. Coleman?" Milton asked. The body groaned and turned its head to look at Milton.
"Raise your right hand if you recognize any of these statements. Your name is Michael Coleman."
The man gave a raspy breath and his index finger twitched on his right hand. Milton held up a picture of a woman. "This is your wife of forty-three years, Betty Coleman." The man trembled as his entire palm lifted off of the bedspread for the tiniest fraction of a second. "Now please, cough, if you understand the words I am saying to you." Coleman gave a short, hacking spray that sounded more like a wheeze than a true cough. Milton paused to look at the Governor. "This is only the beginning," he said. "I mean, this is the breakthrough I've been waiting for! What I need now is further time to establish - "
The Governor held up his hand and silenced Milton. His tone of voice was quietly restrained but urgent. "Get Penny."
***
Halfway there, the Governor thought. I can't run fast enough... halfway there. My Penny, my Penny, my Penny. Dusk had started to descend upon Woodbury once more, aggravating the walkers roaming outside the walls. The guards stood silent, well aware that the gunshot taken to kill one walker would attract many, many more.
The Governor was at the door to his apartment building when a massive explosion tore through the quiet night sky and shook the very ground. The road itself cracked from the force of the blast, and the Governor was thrown to the ground, Milton falling a few yards behind him. They were both showered in broken glass from the windows going out across the street. Screams pierced the air at the same time as automatic gunfire. "Oh damn, not now! Not now!" The Governor sat straight up to avoid further glass and unholstered his Beretta handgun. "Milton, get inside! Get inside now!"
"Martinez, what the hell is going on?" the Governor shouted loudly over the din. His second-in-command was backing up from the now-destroyed north section of the wall, peering down the sights of his MP5k. Not looking away from his gun, he replied, "There are some crazy bastards tryin' to bust in through the wall, sir! They drove a school bus right up to the wall and blasted away at it with a rocket launcher!"
Behind them, a Humvee roared out with a Woodbury soldier manning a Browning mounted machine gun, who fired a heavy stream of fire into the wreckage. "Cease fire, cease fire!" shouted the Governor. "Martinez, take a man and go check it out." Martinez darted forward into the smoke.
"I want men stationed at every perimeter," the Governor ordered his men. "Make sure whoever these terrorists are, they don't get in or get out without my say. Stay strong, we'll come out on top. And if you're a civilian, stay inside!" The Governor watched as his military sprang into action, and he gave a wary glance over his shoulder before he headed back into his apartment to check on Penny.
On the other side of the smoke, the Joker lowered his empty rocket launcher and reached behind him to grab a new warhead from one of his henchmen. The school bus driver was backing the behemoth of a vehicle up, loaded with three other Joker thugs, ready to attack the now-undefended eastern wall sector. Joker's policy was chaos, and he was systematically employing it, one strike at a time.
"Y'see, it's all a matter of public view - public opinion," the Joker commented to his henchman as he reloaded the rocket launcher. "This... this... uh, Governor, he's a normal man just like you and I. Well, maybe not like myself... but he susceptible to fear and shock like the rest of you. And he has to answer to the fears of his people as well. All I have to do..." The Joker paused, aiming blindly into the smoke, and fired the rocket launcher. The explosive warhead streaked into the town and tore up the road. "All I have to do," he continued, "is make that facade of safety and order come crashing down. It worked in Gotham, y'know, and it'll work here too!" Before the thug could answer, though, he took a round to the torso and fell on his back, hard, grunting in pain.
"Let me help you out there, buddy." The Joker offered his hand, and as he pulled the injured thug up, plunged his switchblade into the man's chest. "That's better, isn't it?"
Martinez and a Woodbury soldier peered through the dissipating smoke and spotted the Joker thugs advancing, firing their submachine guns at fleeing civilians as they advanced. "Get that guy," Martinez pointed at one of the clowns, and the Woodbury soldier obediently rattled off several rounds from his MP5. This small-arms fire was quickly drowned out by the massive "thump-thud-thump-thud" of heavy machine gun rounds tearing through the air from the Browning machine gun, mounted on the back of the Humvee. One of the Joker thugs was torn to pieces, flipping sideways through the air as the heavy machine gun rounds ripped through his torso and out his back. "Rally behind the Humvee! Get these assholes outta Woodbury!" Martinez shouted. Two more Woodbury soldiers took cover behind the Humvee, firing their M14s at the faltering Joker thugs. The clown-masked mercenaries cowered in terror behind a shattered wall section, the machine gun pinging off the side of the road next to them. One of the thugs took a piece of broken road kicked up into his arm and fell back, exposed, into the road.
"There's a guy fallin' out in the open." Martinez shouted.
"Yeah, I got 'im!" the gunner replied, swinging the barrel over to dispatch of the injured clown. Suddenly, another rocket sped out from the smoke and slammed into the front of the Humvee. The vehicle went up in flames and crashed on its side, killing the gunner and two of the Woodbury soldiers taking cover next to it. Martinez ducked and flinched at the noise of steel grinding on steel and shouted in pain as the wave of heat rushed over him from the blast. The Joker rushed out, abandoning his rocket launcher and firing his M1 rifle. Seeing the Humvee destroyed, his men sprung up from cover and joined the firing. Martinez took cover behind the destroyed Humvee, switching magazines in his submachine gun, silently praying as the Joker's salvoes whizzed past the wrecked vehicle.

The Governor rushed down the street to his apartment, his pistol drawn and loaded. Only one guard stood at the eastern wall sector, and upon seeing the Governor, shouted out in terror. "What's going on? Are we under attack?" The Governor gave a half-glance up to the guard, luckily spotting the headlights of the bus as they came into view. The guard was not as lucky, and as the bus plowed through the barricade, the Woodbury citizen tumbled off of their perch and lay still on the hard pavement. Three men in clown masks poured out of the bus and spotted the Governor, who drew his pistol and fired smartly at one of the attackers. The round slammed into his upper chest, shattering the clavicle and sending bone fragment flying onto the men behind him. "I don't give a damn who you assholes are!" the Governor roared, spit flying from his mouth in rage. "Get the hell out of Woodbury! Get the hell out of my town!" He fired again, hitting one of the men in the leg. He slid down the steps of the bus and moaned, grabbing the wound. The last Joker thug ran back into the bus and took cover behind one of the seats, popping up near one of the windows, firing his Glock pistol randomly in fear. The Governor rushed forward, grabbed the injured Joker thug, and ripped off his mask. The man's pale face was devoid of color as he lost blood, but it was contorted with fear. "Please, man, listen, it's the boss, he's controlling and - " The Governor slammed his boot down on the man's face, smashing his nose and splattering his face red. The man shrieked in agony seconds before the Governor unsheathed his Bowie knife and mashed his midsection into a bloody pulp. Leaping into the bus, the Governor, shirt and face covered in the blood of his victims, eyed down the last Joker thug, who fled to the back of the bus and tried to kick down the emergency exit. Turning, he pointed the pistol at the Governor, but he had spent his magazine. "No, please, pl - " He was thrown to the floor of the bus and kicked violently in the ribs. Struggling to get up, he was stomped again before being hauled to his feet and having his face smashed into the bus window, cracking the glass and cutting his face. Shaking with pain and sobbing, the Joker thug received a headbutt and a knee to the groin before the Governor finally squeezed a rage-fueled fist around the man's neck, lifting him up against the roof while repeatedly stabbing him in the torso. As soon as the man's muffled chokes of pain and fear had subsided into a wretched gurgling, the Governor dropped his body and took one deep breath before he kicked out the emergency exit in one blow and leaped out. Already, walkers were starting to convene on Woodbury by the dozens, but the Governor stared through them all.
Running back into the town, he sped past shops and houses before reaching the street of his apartment.

The Joker and his last remaining thug had pressed forward, keeping Martinez pinned down behind the destroyed Humvee. They approached the wreck and the Joker held up a hand, bringing his henchman to a halt. "Grenade," he said, holding out a hand. Receiving the hand-held explosive, the Joker pulled the pin, licked his lips, and lobbed it on the other side of the vehicle. "Now I want you to listen to this noise, okay?" The explosion was small but precise. "That is the sound of a man as he dies..." The Joker's sadistic analysis died in his throat as he looked for Martinez's corpse in the crater. It was not to be found.
"He's over there boss!" the thug shouted, firing his MAC-10 wildly. The shots went far and high and missed as Martinez disappeared around the corner. The Joker dropped his M1 rifle and readied his shotgun. "Let's go get 'im." The Joker thug made a quick switch of magazines, the empty one clattering on the broken street as flames and smoke curled up into the hazy night sky. Several walkers had approached the town and wandered aimlessly through the streets.

"Merle! Merle!"
"What the hell is goin' on Martinez?"
Merle jogged over to Martinez as he slumped down by the walker pits, hoping that the scent of the rotting corpses would keep the stream of zombies invading Woodbury away from his current location.
"Where's the Governor?"
"No time man... some sick clown bastard's runnin' this place and doin' whatever the hell he feels like. He's got his cronies dressed up like him. I wanna take out their boss and crack down on them before Woodbury falls to pieces." Martinez made an exhausted gesture with his hand in the general direction of the Joker's henchman as he casually approached. A Woodbury soldier peered cautiously around a piece of debris, aiming with his M14, but the Joker thug was faster and blasted a chunk of the concrete away with his shotgun. A second shot tore half of the Woodbury soldier's chest open.
"Shit! This guy means business." Merle raised his bayonet arm and nodded to Martinez. "Look, distract Bozo the Clown over there and I'll get the drop on 'im."
Martinez stood up and popped off a few shots from his MP5. "Come on over here, clown boy! I've got a bullet with your name on it!" The Joker thug's catcalls echoed across the empty town as he jogged over toward Martinez. Whipping out his pocket knife, the clown tackled Martinez and slashed at his cheek. The wound was superficial but painful, and Martinez yelled as he bit down on the Joker thug's arm. Merle leaped out from the shadows and plunged his bayonet into the exposed side of the Joker thug, twisting the blade in between his ribs. The clown-masked invader screamed but kept the knife in his hand and stabbed Martinez in the stomach. Merle snarled as he grabbed the Joker henchman and threw him to the sand in the walker pit, stabbing him again in the midsection. Leaving the man for dead, Merle turned and rushed to Martinez's slumped and injured body.

The Governor rushed into his apartment and found the door already open. Panic surged through his body in a deadly wave of adrenaline as he leaped into the room. The furniture was kicked over and shattered glass covered the floor. His boots crunched over the tiny shards as he heard a singsong voice emanate from Penny's room.
"Penny!" he roared, unsheathing his Bowie knife in one hand and pointing with his Beretta in the other.
The Joker sat in the Governor's chair, Penny's zombie sitting on the floor next to him, the bag over her head and her arms restrained in chains. "PENNY!" the Governor roared. He pointed the pistol at the Joker. "Who the hell are you?" He kicked the Joker in the ribs, hard. The clown fell to the floor and laughed as he pulled himself to his feet.
"We're going to talk a while, Governor," the Joker said. "I've got a grenade there in your lovely zombie daughter's hands - luckily for... well, luckily for all of us, I suppose, I've got her grip tied tight around the grenade with some handy wire. Otherwise... well..." the Joker broke off in a chuckle. "Well... we wouldn't be sitting here, would we?"
"You're a dead man, clown. Let my daughter go now!" The Governor yelled.
"Relax, relax. Why don't we sit down and watch some of your television, mister Governor?" The Joker said before revealing the Governor's collection of floating walker heads. The Joker let out a chuckle, "Y'know, you can say I've done some bad things," The Joker paused and chuckled some more. "But I've never done something like this."
"You shut the hell up and let Penny go!" The Governor yelled, his grip on his pistol tightening.
"Penny? Penny, is that her name? Oooh, how sweet." The Joker asked, slowly stepping back. "People say I'm crazy, but what's really crazy is keeping this thing alive, don'tcha think?" The Joker paused, examining Phillip. "You can calm down now, Governor. Nothing bad's gonna happen."
"Please, just don't hurt her."
"No promises. BWAHAHA!"
The Joker pulled out his switchblade and stabbed the undead girl in the back of her head. He yanked out his knife and kicked her down.
"NO!" The Governor fired his gun, nothing coming out but a clicking noise. Phillip readied his knife and tackled the Joker before he could make a move, attempting to slit the clown's throat. The Joker was filled with glee and laughed knowing he broke the Governor. The clown raised his right arm and slashed at his attacker and dug into his shoulder with his in an attempt to get him off. The Governor let out a scream of pain as the Joker twisted his blade in Phillip's shoulder before pulling it out, blood squirting out of the wound. Phillip grabbed his shoulder in pain, and the Joker used this moment to push his attacker off of him.
"Well, where are you manners?" The Joker said as he got back on his feet, dusting off his suit. "I don't think you should have done that." The Joker muttered before kicking his foe on the floor. "No. You. Shoudn't. Have." With his kick, Phillip was coughing up blood and moaning in pain, nearly blacking out. Phillip heard and felt nothing until the sound of a door creaking open and the feeling of warm sun following greeted him. "I feel so bad for leaving, I don't want you without some company." The Joker mocked his weary adversary. "So, have fun with these guys!" The Joker slammed down the collection of walker heads, the sound of glass breaking echoed throughout the room, shards scattered throughout the apartment, and the decaying heads rolled around on the wet floor, still craving flesh.

"Hang in there, we're almost to Miltie's place." Merle said as he and Martinez made there way to the other part of town. "Well what the hell you stopping for, man!?" Martinez yelled, looking at Merle, stopped dead in his tracks, staring at the armed clown down the street. "Oh shit! OH SHIT!" Merle yelled leaped for cover with Martinez as bullets began to fly at them.
"SHIT! The fucker's got us! Hand me your fuckin' gun!" Merle yelled over the gun fire, going for Martinez's MP5. "Shit, shit, shit!"
The gunfire seized, nothing out of coming out of the AKM except smoke and clicks. "Guess we'll just have to improvise..." The Joker muttered to himself, dropping the rifle down and arming his Glock once more.
Merle peered over cover and traded shots with the Joker, firing the MP5 at his oncoming opponent. The Joker also firing wildly with his Glock. Merle went back to cover and reloaded the gun, handing it back to Martinez. "Keep him occupied with you gun, when he comes close I'll let 'Lil Merle show him how it's done." Martinez nodded and peered his head out ready to fire, and the last thing he saw was a silver Glock 17 being aimed at him by a purple-coated man. Blood spattered, and a dead Martinez fell back.
"AHHH! TAKE THIS MOTHERFUCKER!" Merle roared, leaping out of cover towards the Joker, who quickly retaliated with a punch to the face.
Merle fell back and wiped the blood from his face with his only hand, and looked back up to see the clown coming at him with a switchblade. The Joker grabbed Merle by his throat and slammed him up against a nearby building, waving his switchblade in Merle's face. Merle snarled, brought his bayonet-arm back, and thrusted it downward into the Joker's leg, twisting it savagely before pulling it out. Much to his surprise, the Joker made no reaction to the pain save for a brief chortle before repeatedly stabbing him in the chest. Merle hung viciously on to the clown's chest as the blade punched through his body. He's been through hell and back, no crazed clown gunman was going to kill this vet. Merle raised his bayonet up and slashed at the Joker's check before being let go and falling hard onto the concrete.
"Ohohoh. Feisty one here." The clown joked as he rubbed the blood off his face. "You put up a fight, I like that."
"Who are you?" Merle spat at asked his attacker. "Just who the fuck exactly are you, clown boy?"
"Who am I?" The Joker paused for a movement to think. "Who am I?...I'm a man of my word." The Joker said as he pointed his Glock at the fallen Woodbury soldier.

The Governor stumbled out of his ransacked apartment, broken glass crunching underneath his boots with each step, as he furiously made his way to the Walker Pits. Following the sound of gunfire, he arrived just in time to see Merle's execution at the hands of the Joker. His rage erupted into savage emotion as he pulled his Bowie knife out of its sheath and dove at the sadistic clown, arms wrapping around his knees and bringing them both crashing to the ground. The Governor plunged the Bowie knife deep into the Joker's stomach and buried it down until only the hilt protruded from his purple vest. It quivered and bounced as the Joker laughed hysterically, gasping for breath.
"And so it comes down to this, Governor!" he managed, writhing under his foe's grasp. "Just one worthy foe... against... another!"
"Shut up!" The Governor shouted, pushing harder on the knife. "I don't give a damn who you are! You don't come to my town to mess with my people, my family, my -" His sentence died abruptly as his eyes darted down to the Joker's gloved hand. A small, round baseball grenade shone in the moonlight as the Joker's thumb and forefinger slipped around the pin and tugged gently. The quiet click was not the sound of the pin, though, but the switchblade, moments before it shot up into the Governor's neck. Once again, the Governor's eyes darted back to the Joker, who had forced himself into a sitting position and had pocketed the grenade, cupping his mortally injured foe's face in his free hand.
"You're a smart man, Governor, yes, I'll give you that," the Joker whispered. "But you have one thing wrong about me, and it's that tiny thing that makes all the difference." The switchblade clicked as it retracted out of the Governor's neck and back into the handle. The Governor slumped back to the ground, gurgling as he choked for breath. "I'm not a terrorist... I'm not a bringer of the apocalypse. I'm a false prophet. I'm here to show your people the lies and deception that have clouded their judgment all this time." He gestured to Merle's dead body a few yards away. "And I'm a liberator, too. And in the end, that's all that matters."
Expert's Opinion[]
The Joker Gang was Hellstorm's last victorious set of warriors, and they gave the Woodbury Gang quite a run for their money. Although the Woodbury Army was better equipped and better trained, the Joker's chaotic and destructive approach to battle was able to dismantle the Governor's delicately constructed facade of order and safety, and that was all it took to revert the once-capable Woodbury militia from a zombie-fighting army to frightened civilians with guns.

Battle vs. Jericho Rangers (by BeastMan14)[]
The blasts that had collapsed the country may have reduced people to nothing, but they hadn't reduced us to pacifists. Even in a dystopian country where the dead are starting to rise, people still find reasons to fight and kill each other, and Jericho and Woodbury were no different. Ever since the Governor and his men's failed attempts to kill the Green brothers, who had simply been looking for supplies, the towns had been at war. And in war, there really could only be one winner.
Woodbury...
"Here's where we hit." The Governor said, tracing his fingers across the entrance point of a map of Jericho. "Full force. These bastards killed Gargulio, Bruce, and Eisenberg, and they sure as hell ain't getting away with it." Merle Dixon and Caesar Martinez, his second-in-commands, nod, and he points at the town's lesser known back entrance. "But while we're fighting them off, this..." He draws a line with his knife, and points at Merle and Martinez, "...is where you two come in. You take some men, hit them by surprise, and let some walkers in. They won't be ready for that." Merle and Martinez nods. Rolling up the map and walking out of his office, the Governor turned and said to Milton,"Tell Shumpert to get some men ready as reinforcements, and get the jeeps ready. We're moving out." "Yes sir." Milton calmly walked out. Merle cleared his throat, "Any more orders, boss?" Pausing for a second, the Governor nodded, "Tell your men....to kill them all."
Jericho...
"Jake, you're not thinking with a clear head." Gray Anderson, the town's new mayor, protested as he followed Jake Green, the town's actual leader, to the barricades set in front of town. "Maybe we just need to try and sue for peace?" Jake stopped and turned, the look of anger on his face clear. "Peace? After all they've done? Gray, they tortured my brother, they killed my father when he helped us fight them off, and their leader said, to me, that he would not back down. And you want me to sue for peace?" Gray opened his mouth as if to speak and argue back, then closed it and walked off. Shaking his head, Jake continued his stride to the barricades.
Meanwhile, in Woodbury....
The Governor crouched in front of his daughter, Penny, as she strained in her chains and snapped at him. "Look, I'm gonna be leaving for a while. Uncle Milton is gonna take care of you until then, alright? You be good, and don't you dare bite him." After a few seconds of silence, he nodded and stood up, and said to Milton,"You can take her for a walk if you want, but I won't be offended if you don't. Up to you." Milton swallowed nervously and nodded as the Governor patted him on the soldier and walked out of the room.
Later that night....
Gray walked through the hills to the meeting point he had given to the Governor. As he walked, he nervously fumbled with the revolver in his coat pocket, wanting to ensure that it was there in case things went bad. As he saw the humvee in the distance, he starting walking to it, when suddenly a gun was put to his head. "Put yer hands up." Merle Dixon rasped, and Gray quickly put his hands into the air. Pulling the revolver out of Gray's pocket, Merle laughed, "What the hell were you gonna do with this, old man?" and threw it onto the ground. "Merle." The Governor stepped in front of Gray, and Merle lowered his gun. "I apologize for Merle. In a time of war, one can't be too careful." Gray nodded,"The Governor, huh? Why do they call you that?" "I considered the President, but that sounded too...over-the-top. Y'know, Morse Code's an odd way of sending a message, and you're lucky one of my men knew what it meant. Why did you contact me?" Gray gulped,"Jake, he's...he's not willing to back down, and we're outnumbered and outgunned. I want to get through this without losing anyone." The Governor nodded, "A man wants to look out for his people. I can understand that. Alright, I'll strike a deal with you." Gray nodded excitedly, desperate. "You trick Jake Green into coming our way, and we back off." Gray angrily shook his head, "No. I won't let you kill Jake!" The Governor shrugged,"My people won't just let this go without some bloodshed. Jake killed a lot of my men. Good men. With families of their own. Seems fair to me." Turning to walk back to Jericho, Gray spit in the Governor's direction, and said,"Well, it's not, and I'm not betraying my friend's son for you!" The Governor sighed, then said,"Well alright then. Martinez, go ahead." Before Gray could move, a bat slammed into his head, sending him tumbling to the ground, out cold. "Shit. What're we gonna do now?" Merle asked. "Adjust the plan." The Governor answered, and he walked back to the jeep, his right-hand men closely following, dragging the unconscious Gray with them.
Early the next morning...
"Stanley!" Jake's yell stopped Stanley Richmond dead in his tracks as he was walking to guard duty , and he turned to see his friend jogging towards him. "Jake! What is it?" Stanley asked, confused. "Have you seen Gray? He went for a walk last night, and never came back." Stanley's eyes widened,"Shit! With those things out there? What was he thinking?" Jake shook his head,"I don't know. I'm getting some of the Rangers together to find him, then we'll-" A loud series of gunshots rang out, silencing Jake, who turned his head to the noise. "What was that?" Suddenly, Dale Turner ran up, visibly panicked and shouting, "Jake! Jake!" "Dale, what is it?" "That *pant* Governor guy, he's *pant* he's here!" Unholstering his M16, Jake ran for the gates, pointing at Stanley and Dale and saying,"Stanley, get to the back entrance and tell the Rangers there to be on their guard! Dale, tell everyone to get to safety!" "Jake, I want to help! Let me fight!" "Dale, this is helping. Just trust me!"
The Governor stood in front of three Humvees, 9 of his best men taking cover behind them, with one of them holding a bound figure with a sack on his head, in front of a gathering crowd of people. Firing his Steyr into the sky a second time, he roared,"Where the hell is Green?" The 6 Rangers guarding the wall cautiously watched him, not willing to pull the trigger and start a firefight unless they need to., the one manning the M240 especially nervous "I'm right here." Jake emerged from the crowd of civilians, and stepped over the barricade, M16 drawn and pointed directly at the Governor. "Good. I wanted to tell you my deal personally. Give you a chance to think it over." Jake slowly lowered his gun, and asked,"What's your deal?" Smiling, the Governor pointed towards the bound figure, "You see this man here? Stand down, let us take half your supplies, and we leave you alone. For a while, at least." The Governor traded his Steyr for his Beretta, and pointed the Beretta at the man's head,"And he lives. Don't surrender, we kill him, and we come in and kill your people." Jake shook his head. "I'm not giving out supplies and risking my people's safety for a stranger." The Governor grabbed the man and threw him in the ground, "Oh, he's not a stranger, Jake." He tore the sack off the man's head, revealing a badly bruised Gray Anderson, "I'd say he's a friend." Gray struggled to stand, and cried out,"Don't do it Jake! Don't let him-" The Governor's boot cut him off, and Gray collapsed to the ground. "Your choice, Jake." The Governor stood back. Looking at Gray, who defiantly shook his head, Jake hung his head, then nodded to the Rangers to ready their weapons. "You know a story my dad used to tell me? He used to talk about George Patton and the Battle of the Bulge. When the Germans pushed hard on his troops, they gave him the chance to surrender, and y'know what he said? Nuts, and he kept fighting." Jake pointed his M16 at the Governor. "And your deal? I say nuts." The Governor grimly nodded, then put the trigger to Gray's head and pulled the trigger. Gray's brains splattered all over the ground, and an enraged Jake let out a cry of,"No!" and opened fire, with the Governor barely dodging. Both sides opened fire, with the Jericho civilians quickly scattering.

Running back behind the barricade, Jake turned and opened fire, the rounds slamming into the chest of a Woodbury soldier. Popping out of cover, the Governor lined a headshot with his Steyr's scope and opened fire, killing an unlucky Ranger. "Focus fire on their heads! Get the launcher and take down the barricades! Kill them all!" The Governor cried, struggling not to be drowned out by the automatic gunfire. "Open fire with the machine gun!" Jake shouted as the M240 opened fire, the rounds slamming into the Humvees and tearing through two of the troops on the other sides. "We're sitting ducks out here! Take the shot!" A Woodbury soldier shouted to his teammate with the grenade launcher as he laid down covering fire with his FN FAL. "Everyone get back!" Jake yelled just as the launcher's round blew the barricade to pieces, killing two Rangers , destroying the M240, and sending the remainder flying backwards. "Everyone take cover behind the cars and get inside! Don't let them spread out! And everyone else watching, get out of here and warn the others! And someone find Eric!" Jake shouted as he and the other Rangers scrambled from the barrage of gunfire.
The Governor and his men advanced, opening fire on the Rangers as they scrambled for cover. Hearing groaning near him, the Governor looked to see a wounded Ranger laying on her side. Grabbing her and hoisting her up, the Governor threw her forward and shot her in the back repeatedly with his Beretta. After a few seconds, the woman got up, now as a walker, and she lurched forward, shrugging off panicked gunfire from the Rangers long enough to force one of them out of cover, and both are promptly torn to pieces in a hail of gunfire. "Damn it! Everyone fall back!" Jake shouted as he blindly opened fire again, the rounds tearing through a Woodbury soldiers legs and chest, then ran down the street, with another Ranger close behind him. The Governor waited to see if it was clear, then turned to his men,"This is it. Split up, take out any resistance, and keep your cool out there. Keep it organized, and we can win this." Nodding, his men fanned out.
On the other side of Jericho, hidden behind some bushes, Merle and Martinez, along with 3 other Woodbury soldiers, listened to the sound of gunfire and heard screams of both panic and pain, and nodded. Loading his Ithica, Merle grinned. "Sounds like our cue." Martinez nods, and points towards the only two guards on their side of Jericho. "Alright, you distract 'em, and me and the boys will take them down." Merle nodded, "Alright. Let's do this." Walking out and opening fire on the Rangers cover, Merle shouted,"Hey, assholes! Why don't you take a shot at a real man?" As one of the Rangers stood up to open fire with a MAC-10, a shot from Martinez blew through his skull, killing him, and the other Ranger is killed trying to run when Merle blows a chunk of his chest out with his shotgun. "All clear. See, Brownie, this'll be a piece of cake." Merle chuckled as he finished off the second Ranger by stabbing him through the brain.

Dale ran through the streets, down to Mary's bar. Bursting through the door, he came face-to-face with Mary and her shotgun. "Dale! You spooked the shit out of me! What's happening out there?" Mary lowered her gun. Dale shook his head,"No time. Where's Eric? Jake needs him." Eric walked out from behind the bar. "What the hell is going on out there, Dale? Are we under attack?" Dale nodded, "Yes, it's Woodbury. They just hit the barricade, and-" A burst of automatic fire shattered the windows, and sent the trio scrambling for cover. "Crap, they found us!" Dale shouted as Mary tossed Eric her shotgun. As a Woodbury soldier stepped through the door, he was promptly blown backwards, falling out into the street, as Eric pumped shot after shot into his chest. "Where's Jake?" Eric turned to Dale. "I don't know! He and his men ran off after the barricade went down." "Well, I'm gonna go find him!" Eric shouted as he ran out the door.
Jake ran into the empty sheriff's office, two Woodbury soldiers hot in pursuit. A bullet grazed his ear, and he turned a corner. Waiting until one of the soldiers turned the corner, he grabbed them by the arm, drove his knee into their stomach and then threw them into their backup. As the two men tried to recover, Jake drew his Glock and opened fire, killing the first man with a well-placed headshot , and shooting the other man a half dozen times in the chest, neck, and stomach. Stopping to grab a baton and walked talkie, Jake walked out of the sheriff's office. "Hawkins, are you there? Come in, Hawkins?" Jake asked over the walkie talkie.
After Jake had sent him to do recon, Robert Hawkins watched the roads carefully with his sniper rifle, waiting for more movement. Grabbing his radio, he replied,"Jake, I'm here, and you just got a hell lot of activity. What's happening?" "We're under attack, Hawkins." "Damn if, do you need-" "No, Hawkins. I need you to stay there and tell me if there are any reinforcements coming." Looking through the rifle's scope, Hawkins picked up the radio and replied,"No, I'm not seeing anything. Wait, hold on. I got 4 jeeps coming, two with turrets mounted on top. Reinforcements, most likely. "Hawkins, you need to stop the reinforcements. We can't fight off more of these people." Nodding, Hawkins answered,"Will do." and hung up.
Shumpert sat in the passenger seat of the lead Humvee, watching the road closely. The Governor needed backup, and these Jericho assholes weren't gonna be ready for what was coming their way. As he pointed out the turn in the road, a sniper rifle rang out, and the driver collapsed dead at the wheel. Swearing, Shumpert managed to get out of the vehicle as it came to a grinding halt. "Shump, what the hell are you doing? Why are we sto-" Another sniper shot blew the brains of a gunner out before he could finish his question. "Up there!" The other gunner shouted, pivoting and opening fire on a cliff, where a man with a rifle ducked and cowered. Shumpert raised his AK and opened fire, joining a chorus of gunfire.
"Shit!" Hawkins cried as the cliff turned into bullet hell. Dozens of rounds went zooming by his head as he grabbed his M4A1, his Glock, and a few flash gangs before crouching and barely managing to work his way down the hill. After a few more seconds, the gunfire stopped. "He dead?" The gunner asked. As Shumpert opened his mouth to reply, a small, cylinder-shaped object came sliding to the ground. "What is that?" A Woodbury soldier asked seconds before the flashbang went off, blinding him and the others. Quickly unholstering his rifle, Hawkins opened fire, killing one trooper after the other. Badly injured, Shumpert collapsed to the ground, focusing mainly on breathing. As Hawkins moved to finish him off, another group of Humvees came rumbling over the hill. "Goddamn it." Hawkins grumbled as he quickly laid down, playing dead with the other troops as the convoy came to a stop.
Major Beck stepped out of the Humvee, surveying the carnage. "How many?" He asked the soldier next to him. "Judging from just this, this is 12, no, make that 11, casualties." "11?" The soldier pointed at Shumpert, "That one's dying, sir." Shaking his head, Beck stepped back into the jeep. This border dispute was getting out of hand, alongside the mutation of the Hudson River Virus making things even worse. "Alright. Let's move. Kill him before he turns." The private nods, and shoots Shumpert in the head, before stepping back into the jeep.
As the convoy vanished, Hawkins breathed a sigh of relief. He needed to warn Jake, alongside finish covering his tracks. Pulling a trooper out of the jeep, Hawkins began driving back to Jericho.

Stanley and two other Rangers walked through the streets, scanning for any signs of hostiles. "Alright, I'm gonna take my rifle and scope out the street." One Ranger says. "Got it. Stay low, don't let them see you." Stanley crouches for cover behind an abandoned car. "Relax, I'll be back in no-" A bullet from a Woodbury sniper rifle silences the man, and he falls dead with a hole in his skull. "Get down! Get down!" Stanley draws his G36C and opens fire, sending one Woodbury soldier to the ground, spasming as the rounds fly through his chest! then turns and shoots the other Woodbury soldier in the head. "Alright brownie, lay down some cover fire, I'll let Lil Merle show em who's boss." Martinez nodded and opened fire, forcing Stanley back into cover as Merle crouched and moved quickly.
As the fire from Martinez came to a stop, the Ranger turned to Stanley and asked,"Is he out?" Stanley shrugged, and as the man peeked out behind cover, Merle tackled him, driving the bayonet of Lil Merle straight into his chest . Backing up, Stanley drove the butt of his rifle into Mele's face, sending him staggering backward. Lifting the rifle to fire, Stanley grimaced at the sound of clicking, and Merle slammed into him, stabbing the bayonet into his stomach and dragging it across. As Stanley slowly stopped struggling and let out a dying whisper of "Bonnie, I'm...I'm sorry." Merle pulled himself up, pulled out his pistol, and shot Stanley in the head. "All better. Now let's get a move on.' Merle shouted to Martinez, who emerged from cover, did a quick scan with his rifle, and walked to Merle.
The Governor walked through the carnage of Jericho, opening fire with his Steyr to scare people back into hiding. Suddenly, a door next to him slowly opened, and a Ranger cautiously poked his head out. "Hey, is it safe?" Another man's voice asked from the inside. "Yeah, I think-" The Governor opened fire, killing the scout , and drove his foot into the door as the other man struggled to close it. Drawing his knife, he stabbed the man in the stomach, and used his other hand to slam him into the floor. "Look, I surrender, just don't-hurk ack!" The man cried out as the Governor wrapped his hands around his throat, strangling the life out of him . When the man finally stopped moving, the Governor got up, dusted himself off, and walked back out.
Eric ran down the street, shotgun at his side, as he followed the slowly fading bursts of gunfire. As he turned, he saw a horrible sight. Stanley, dead, surrounded by spent shell casings, and his body covered in stab wounds. Falling to his knees at his friend's corpse, Eric hung his head,"I'm sorry, Stanley." Suddenly, a voice cried out,"Oh shit, Merle! I got one more!" As more bursts of gunfire rang out, Eric quickly ran inside a nearby house, with two attackers gaining on him.
Jake turned and fired a round into one Woodbury soldier's head , and then shot the other in the chest when he ran in to investigate. He had followed them inside as they had begun looting from a house, and he was taking a moment to catch his bearings. Suddenly, Jake heard a shout of "Oh shit, Merle! I got one more!" and automatic gunfire. Checking the last clip of his M16, Jake walked out the door.
Merle walked from room-to-room, Lil Merle at the ready. "Come on out, you son of bitch!" Merle shouted, then planted his foot on a door and kicked it open, before slowly walking in. "Hey Merle, anything?" Martinez shouted down from the second floor. The guy that had ran in has just up and vanished. "Nah, I got nothing." "Me neither. Alright, I'm coming down." As Martinez began to walk down the steps, a gunshot rang out, and his headless corpse tumbled down the steps. "What the fuck?!?" Merle shouted in surprise, then looked up the stairs to see Eric, who had been hiding in a closet, reloading his shotgun. "There you are, fucker!" Merle shouted as he opened fire with his pistol, one bullet hitting Eric in the leg and forcing him to limp away.
As Eric tried to escape out the window, Merle, who has easily caught up, grabbed his shoulder and pulled him backwards. Stabbing his shirt, Merle punched Eric in the face again and again, stabbed him in the stomach. then threw him to the floor. "Y'see, asshole, Brownie back there, the one you just killed? He was my friend. And for that, yore gonna suffer for a while. Sound good?" Eric, in too much pain to speak, tried to crawl away, only for Merle to kick him in the ribs. "Oh no, you ain't escaping that easy." As he raised his blade to stab Eric again. Merle heard a creak in the floorboards, and turned to see the barrel of the Jake's gun.
"Thanks, Jake. I've been looking all over for you."

Battle vs. Wolverines (Remake) (by HanSolo69)[]
The Wolverines trek through a field. Jed, Matt, Robert, Danny and Toni are on the ground while Erica, Julie and Daryl ride in Erica's Ford Mustang. They were off to investigate a claim that the North Koreans were using an abandoned prison as a weapons cache. If they took the weapons, they could finally expand their force. They all stopped when they reached a fenced-off building.
" This it?" asked Matt.
" Dunno. I don't see any guards." replied Jed.
Meanwhile, Philip Blake, aka the Governor, was behind the wheel of an M35A2 troop carrying truck. He and his troops were hot on the trail of Rick Grimes, the bane of his existance. His lieutenant, Martinez, figured out that Rick's group must be using the Woodbury prison as a shelter. Once they arrived at the prison' the M35A2 stopped. Out came the Governor, Martinez, Shumpert, Merle and five members of the Woodbury Army.
In the meantime, the Wolverines see a military grade truck parking next to the prison. Thinking it is the Koreans, they get into battle positions. However, when the armed men get out of the truck, Jed relizes they're American.
" It's okay! They're one of us!" he shouts.
Jed and his Wolverines walk up to the strangers. They ready their weapons.
" There's no need for that. We're like you. We have a camp just about ten miles north. Care to join?" offers Jed.
" That would be nice." the Governor says with a decieving smile.
As Jed turns around, the Governor draws his nickel-plated Beretta 92SB and fires. The bullet just misses Jed's forehead. The Governor gives his men his infamous battle cry:
" Kill them all!".
Jed runs, firing his AKMSU. The Wolverines return fire with their varied arsenal. All hell breaks loose.

Battle vs. Fireflies (by MovieStuff65)[]
As the morning sun glinted over the trees, a convoy of two trucks drive down a dusty road in silence. In the front truck, the Governor lays against the window and awakens from his light nap. He was near exhausted- Penny had been especially difficult to put to bed last night, and trying to reorganize his militia after Grimes' attack had been trying.
But it was all worth it- his daughter needed a strong father, and the town of Woodbury needed a stronger leader, and Phillip Blake was happy to oblige.
"This it?"
"That's right, sir." His driver says, gesturing to a fork in the path. "Down that way- large camp from some survivors, all armed pretty well."
He nodded and stretched as the two trucks pulled to the side of the road. Gingerly rubbing his recently acquired eyepatch, Blake drew in a steady breath to calm himself. Steeling his nerves, he nods to his driver. Opening the door, he looked in the bed to see his militia- only the best and most experienced were with him.
"Get down- we walk from here." The Governor ordered, and the Woodbury Army dismounted without a word. One of them handed the Governor an assault rifle, which he gladly accepted.
"You know the drill boys- it's a simple raid from here. Take 'em from all sides, and stay calm." The Governor said, reassuring his nervous men.
A citizen gulped as he clumsily loaded a magazine into his AK. Poor guy, can't be much older than 18 or 19, The Governor thinks, and walks over to him.
"Oh hey boss. Don't mind me- just a little problem. Should be...goddammit...get in there you little-" he stammers, struggling to properly prime his rifle.
"Lemme see it." The Governor grabs the rifle, and slams the magazine in. Calmly pulling the slide, he smiles a reassuring grin and pats him on the back.
"Thanks man."
"Ain't nothing to it son." Blake comments, turning away to roll his eyes with a sense of contempt.
"Let's smoke these bastards."
"...Twelve cans of beans, six cartons of milk, and three crates of apples."
Marlene shook her head and sighed. Her men were going hungry, and they barely scrounged up enough to last a couple days.
"That's fine, I guess."
The Boston Fireflies, reduced down to a mere ten counting herself, had at least another month before they could reach the other survivors in Louisville. This wouldn't be enough to last them that long.
A Firefly walked up to her, rifle in hand. "Marlene, we need to stop here. There's a town nearby, and there's apparently survivors there."
A spark of hope glimmered in her eyes, before returning to their dark and somber gaze. "Alright, we'll stop."
The Firefly nodded, slinging the rifle over his shoulder. As he walked away, however, Marlene yelled for him to stop.
"Wait!"
He turned around, raising his eyebrow. He was just as tired, hungry, and irritated as the rest of the Fireflies. A few hours of rest would feel like heaven right now.
"Send Davison and Roger to go hunt."
"Fine."
He kept walking, heading to his tent. As he walked towards a much needed nap, he tossed his rifle unceremoniously to a Firely sitting on a stump.
"Marlene wants some meat for dinner. Take Roger and go."
Davison shoots him a glare, complaining as he stands. "Why the fuck do I gotta go? One should be enough."
The Firefly barked at his comrade. "I don't fucking know! You got a problem with it, go complain to her yourself."
Grumbling, Davison nevertheless gestures to his companion. Roger grabs a bow, and they head off into the Forrest to see what they can scrounge up for a meal.
"Right up here, boss."
The Governor's militia quietly walk through the forest, weapons in hand. In the distance, they can barely hear distant chatter and laughter in the forest. "Shit- get down."
The militia scrambles behind trees or fallen logs as two Fireflies arrive on scene.
"You sure you heard somethin'?" One asks, arrow nocked and ready. His companion nods, aiming his Ruger around. "Of course I am. Would I lie about-"
His sentence is interrupted as an arrow pierces his chest, penetrating his rib cage and thrust into his lung. The Woodbury archer quickly nocks anothee arrow, intent on eliminating the two silently.
The Firefly quickly snapped off a shot from his bow, the barbed arrow slamming into the archer's ankle. As the archer let out a yell of pain, the Firefly grabbed his fallen comrade's rifle and shot him twice. One impacted his chest, and the other sent him straight to the ground- dead.
Noticing the rest of the Woodbury Army emerging from cover, the Firefly started sprinting back to the camp.
"We're under attack! Everybody, get up!" He yelled as he sprinted into the clearing. He turned around and aimed the Ruger, but fell as the Governor fired a burst from his AUG. The bullets flew horizontally, starting at his chest and the final slamming into his forehead.
The Fireflies scramble to grab their weapons as the rest of the Woodbury Army emerges into the clearing, firing at the fleeing survivors without care nor concern. A Firefly gets shot in the leg by a Woodbury with an MP5K, and draws his revolver as he falls. He fires once, missing, and then is finished from rifle fire.
"C'mon, let's go!" Marlene yells, grabbing her M16. She returns fire with another Firefly, both of the, shooting down two exposed Woodbury soldiers. Those remaining soldiers, realizing their stupidity, start scrambling to cover as the Fireflies compose themselves and return fire.
The Fireflies quickly gained an edge- calm and collected, several Fireflies kept the Woodbury citizens suppressed. The Governor angrily fires his assault rifle, only to hear a dissatisfying click.
"Son of a bitch!" He yells, drawing his Beretta. He turns around to see the same soldier start to fall back, a look of terror on his face. He hip fires his AK, the bullets slamming harmlessly into the cover.
The Governor sprints over to him, and throws him behind cover. "Get ahold of yourself!" He yells, spit flying into the scared citizen's face. He hoists him up, and gestures towards a row of tents. "Come with me."
As the firefight continues, the Governor and his soldier silently walk behind the tents. They make it halfway through undetected until two Fireflies notice them. One tries to hit them with his revolver, but misses. The two pursue the Governor and his soldier, abandoning the raid to pursue them.
As they sprint towards the last tent, the Governor tackles one from behind. He draws his Bowie Knife and savagely stabs him in the stomach. He then swings it across, disembowling his poor victim. Before the other can react, the Woodbury soldier appears and strikes him with the butt of his rifle. The Firefly grabs his hatchet and swings downward, chopping into his opponent's chest.
The Firefly can only briefly celebrate his victory, however. The Governor thrusts his knife into the back of his throat, slashing his spine. "Boss, you gotta help-" The Woodbury soldier weakly mumbles, only for his beloved commander to remorselessly shoot him.
The Governor loads the AK, and heads back to the firefight.
Meanwhile, the Fireflies have all but cornered the Woodbury Army. Three Fireflies fire with Galil rifles, pumping a soldier full of lead. One soldier returns fire with his M14, killing a Firefly. "We give up!" A soldier yells, throwing his rifle out into the open in surrender. The others, arms still in hand, stop firing but keep their guns ready. As Marlene and her Fireflies close in, the Governor appears behind them.
"Fucking cowards!"
He screams, indiscriminately shooting the surrendering Woodbury soldiers as well as two exposed Fireflies. The Fireflies, momentarily shocked by his sudden appearance, scramble to cover now to escape his rage-fueled slaughter. One loyal Woodbury soldier rejoins the fight and unleashes a barrage of lead into the final Firefly.
Marlene sprints away, desperate to escape with the Governor and his last soldier. She turns around briefly, emptying the clip of her Defender into the Woodbury soldier. Tossing the empty gun aside, she pulls out her machete and waits. As the Governor sprints past her, she makes a desperate swing at him.
Blake easily dodges the attack, and retaliates by back-handing her away. He unholsters his Beretta, aiming the pistol at his defeated foe. She crawls behind a tree to avoid the shots, and sprints away.
"You can't get away from me, you bitch!"
Blake yells, furiously firing his Beretta at his fleeing target. He stops to load a new clip, but hears something that stops the battle rage. Not now. Not fucking now!
But it is- the horrifying groans of the undead.
The Governor looks behind him, seeing a horde of walkers heading towards him. He starts shooting at them, until he feels a sharp pain in his shoulder. Marlene, victorious and exhausted, swings her machete once more at the Governor. She sobs, crying and gasping as she hacks into her fallen foe.
Wiping the sweat from her brow, Marlene unsteadily begins to walk. She knew not where, or whether she'd make it. But she knew she had to keep going- the remaining fragments of the Fireflies needed her.
Expert's Opinion[]
While the Woodbury Army put up a good fight, they couldn't compete against the superior firepower of the Fireflies. Despite being exhausted and fatigued from tears of war, the Fireflies were more than prepared to take on a foe that was better rested than themselves. In sharp contrast, the Governor's feigned sense of peace and tranquility left his men unprepared for a foe equipped to fight back- causing them to buckle and collapse in combat.
