Deadliest Fiction Wiki

The job's over. But I don't really have anywhere else to go. Strange to say it after all that's happened, but Hong Kong kind of feels like home.
— Wei Shen

Wei Shen is the protagonist of the video game Sleeping Dogs. An undercover operative for the Hong Kong Police Department, Wei seeks to bring down a Hong Kong triad to avenge his deceased sister.

Wei grew up in Hong Kong with his mother and sister, Mimi. Addicted to heroin supplied by the notorious Sun On Yee triad, Mimi fell into debt and forced prostitution. The family relocated to San Francisco, where Wei eventually joined the local police department. Mimi could not escape addiction and died of an overdose. Wei's mother committed suicide. Wei used his connections to hunt down the man who sold Mimi's fatal dose and murder him.

Wei transferred to the Hong Kong Police Department for an undercover assignment, tasked with infiltrating the Sun On Yee. Drawing on his childhood ties, Wei swiftly integrated himself with the Water Street Gang, a sect of the Sun On Yee. Wei became the gang's leader following the murder of its former head, Winston Chu. Turmoil engulfed the triad after the death of Uncle Po, the organization's leader.

Big Smile Lee, the triad's most ruthless lieutenant, vied for supremacy through mass violence. Wei killed Lee, brought down his corrupt superior, and helped Broken Nose Jiang, a more restrained lieutenant, take over. Despite his triumphs, Wei's reckless methods and penchant for excessive force led to his demotion to an ordinary patrol officer. However, Wei became a hero twice over when he thwarted the nefarious schemes of a terrorist cult during Chinese New Year.

Expert's Opinion[]

While Chang was highly skilled at dual wielding, and was himself a former police officer, it was decided that Shen, who was trained by two police departments, and had taken martial arts courses was better trained overall, both in firearms and melee combat.
