In my next Deadliest Warrior fanfic this month, I am pitting two of the most famous and influential organized crime group in the United States.
Mafia: The thugs from Sicily who pioneered organized crime in history
vs
The Crips : African-American gangstas who spread drugs and hip-hop across the globe
Who is deadliest?!
Mafia[]
The Sicilian Mafia, also known as simply the Mafia and frequently referred to by members as Cosa Nostra, in
America arrived in the late 1800s as immigrates from Sicily were moving to America. Many immigrants joining the Italian underground to defend themselves or to get a job. There they faced competition from Irish and German Mafias, so the Italian Mafia used their violent nature to their advantage to dominate early 1900s America. World War I and the rise of Benito Mussolini made many Italians immigrate to the United States, and Mussolini's crackdown on crime forced many Mafia families to move as well. A large number of Italians made them outnumber other immigrant populations, and with the Sicilian mafia having centuries of experience at home, they were able to control much of the criminal underground. They dominated until government crackdowns in the 1960s and 1970s weakened the Mafia.

The Crips[]
The Crips are a gang based in the coastal regions of southern California. They were founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1969 mainly by Raymond Washington and Stanley Williams. Once a single alliance between two autonomous gangs, they are now a loosely connected network of individual "sets", often engaged in open warfare with one another. Its members traditionally wear blue clothing, a practice that has waned somewhat due to police crackdowns specifically targeting gang members. Historically, members have been primarily of African-American heritage. The Crips are one of the largest and most violent associations of street gangs in the United States. With an estimated 30,000 to 35,000 members in 2008, they have been involved in murders, robberies and drug dealing, among other crimes. The Crips have a long and bitter rivalry with the Bloods.

X-Factors[]
The ff. numbers are my own opinion. Feel free to make opinions of x-factors on your own.
- Training
- Mafia: 60
- Crips: 70
We don't really know much about the Mafia since the Cosa Nostra have done well to cover their tradition in secrecy. What is known though is that they probably have their own training practices and traditions involving assassinations, stealth and even bomb making (at least in Sicily anyways). However, I have to rate the Crips higher since many are in the U.S. Military. In fact, they have a whole subculture in the military.
- Experience
- Mafia: 60
- Crips: 75
This one goes straight to the Crips. The Mafia are masters of assassinations. They killed their rivals such as the Irish and the Russians with well-performed and calculated hits. Back then they were even bold enough to kill a police chief named David Hennessy. However, since the 1920s they have become more strict when they came to violence. After the 1891 New Orleans lynchings, they stayed away from killing cops since they knew it would bring them trouble. The Crips on the other hand? They are not that shy when it comes to violence. They are ready to kill their rival Afircan-American and Latin gangs in broad daylight if they want to. They also killed cops when given the chance such as the shooting of Officer Stephan Gene Gray and Brian Mulkeen, as well as the LA Uprising. They even fought the U.S. Army Rangers once.
- Tactics
- Mafia: 95
- Crips: 70
The Mafia are legendary when it came to their assassinations, so much so that they probably inspired other criminal organizations. They are capable of murdering their enemies with well-though out plans (such as the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre) or simply make them disappear. Carlos Gambino, one of the legendary Mafia dons, was so powerful that a historian once said that he had the power to close the New York harbor. Meyer Lenskey was influential enough that the U.S. military actually asked for his help in guarding the docks from Nazi spies. The Crips can be crafty and innovative sometimes with their ambushes and drive-by shootings, but for the most part they are gung-ho and not that tactical.
Scenario[]
- Battle takes place in an American city, specifically in a highway. The mafia will have 5 men while the Crips will have 5 men as well. Buildings, covers and cars are available for them to use. It will be a classic gang on gang shootout.
- Voting has ended.
Battle Simulation[]
5 Mafia hitmen were outside of a pizza parlor. They were tasked by their padrino to guard this store becaue it was actually a front to their gambling business. Suddenly, a lowrider passed by carrying 5 Crips members. The Crips inside started to fire their Mac-10s at the Mafiamen, killing one instantly.(1)
One of the Mafiamen started to fire at the car with his tommy gun, riddling the rider with bullets.(0) The car then crashed and the Crips inside then started to get out of their vehicles. A mafiaman rushed to one of the disoriented Crips and blew him away with both barrels of his lupara.(0) A Crip then bashed his head with a baseball bat, cracking his skull.(1) Before the Crip can turn around, a Mafiaman got near to him and stabbed him in the neck with a switchblade.(0)
One of the enraged Crips member then poured all of the contents of his Mac-10 on that Mafiaman, killing him.(1) Another Italian gangster cut him in half with a tommy gun burst.(0) The last remaining Crip shot him in the head with a glock pistol.(1) He then turned around and saw the last remaining Mafiaman charging towards him. Before he can pull the trigger, the Mafiaman tackled him to the street. He then drew his switchblade and tried to jam it at the face of the Crip. But the black man managed to catch his wrist, before headbutting him. He then threw the Mafiaman off of him and made a dash to his gun.
The Italian managed to grab him by his hoodie but it was too late. The Crip now had his pistol in his hands and opened fire several times on the chest of the Mafiaman, killing him. The Crip then yelled in victory.
Expert's Opinion[]
Although experts believed that the Mafia was richer and more influential, they seldom participate in a gunfight and more comfortable in silent assassinations. The Crips, although disorganized, were more experienced and gunhappy when it comes to firefights. In the end, since both were given no preparations and this will be nothing more than a street fight, the Crips' experience in a face-to-face shootouts proved to be the winning factor.
