Deadliest Fiction Wiki

I decided to make this battle for a variety of reasons. For one, both Django and Jonah are themselves bounty hunters who lived during the "wild west" and used similar types of equipment. Both also have a contrasting element too them, with both formerly being the polar opposites of the other, with Django being a freed slave and Jonah being an ex confederate. Add this too their mutual near unmatched usage of firearms, and it comes together to make an interesting fight. So without further adieu, here is Django Freeman vs, Jonah Hex.

Django Freeman[]

Django-Unchained-6

Born into Slavery in the earlier parts of the 1800's, Django was born on the Carrucan plantation. At an unknown date, Django met an tranfered slave woman named Broomhilda, who he took a likeing too and married. In 1858's, Django and Hildi attempted to flee from the plantation, but were caught and taken back. They were both flogged and sold seperately sold. But as Django was being moved away across Texas, he met up with the German Dentist and bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz, who took in Django and to aid him in a hunt. After finishing said job, Django was freed and trained up as a bounty hunter with King, displaying his own prodigious ability with firearms. After the winter had passed, Django and King decided to go off and aid him in finding Hildi, who they learned was serving at a greenvile plantation called candyland. While they attempted to buy her back and free her, things went poory, with King getting killed and Django being strung up. But Django managed to escape, killing off the remaining work hands in Candyland and saving Broomhilda.

Weapons. Cobra Derringer: Being the cloest thing to a melee weapon Django ever gets too use in the entire movie beyond a bullwhip, the Cobra Derringer was the concealed gun used by Django when he killed John Brittle. Being a very short ranged weapon, the Derringer was a short ranged pistol, only having a maximum range of 25 feet. The gun showed to be fairly heavy hitting, with several people getting killed with only a single hit from the gun. It had a two round magazine, and strangely the gun was itself built into a small sliding mechanism which allowed for Django to hide it up his wrist.

Dual Remington 1858's: A common pistol used at the time. The Remington 1858 was the gun Django used throughout most of the movie. The pistol had a range between 75 and 80 yards, with the gun being one of the earlier pistols to fire cartridges. It had a 6 round magazine, and was fairly light in the hand, weighing around 2 pounds and 10 ounces. The gun was single action, and was able to pack pretty deadly punch. In the film, Django mainly carried only one pistol but as several points used two of them.

Henry Rifle: While technically not existing when the film takes place, we do see both Django and King Schultz (and big daddy at one point) actually use Henry rifles at a few points in the film. Being one of the earliest lever rifles, the Henry was a powerful and useful gun. The Henry fired cartridge rounds, holding around 15 rounds. The gun had a maximum range of around 300 yards, though an effective around close too 100 yards. The gun was quite powerful, being able to land fatal wounds at close and long ranges.

Jonah Hex[]

Being born to Woodson and Virginia Hex in 1839, Jonah Hex lived a rough life early on. Being abused by his father regularly, Jonah was sold off from his family and given off to Apaches at a young age. While the Apaches grew to accept him as one of them, he would betrayed by one of them and left for dead. He would manage ot survive and make it back east. He would Join the US army as a cavalry scout in the 1850's, and would defect to the confederacy at the start of the civil war. But near the mid point of the war, Jonah gained a change of heart about the confederecy due to his reservations about slavery, would would attempt to give himself up, though this went poorly and it lead to Jonah becoming an outlaw in the east and led ot his former usit getting slaughter. Jonah would attempt to return to the Apache, but he would quickly enter conflict with them, with the Apache deciding to give Jonah the devils mark, which left him with severe facial burns. Jonah would remain in the west, and would take up bounty hunting as a profession, gaining renown across the west as one of the best in the business.

Weapons. Tomahawk: While Jonah has carried a number of melee weapons (Swords, axes, daggers etc...), I will be giving him possibly his most iconic weapon. Tomahawks are heavy hitting and brutal short range axes. Being around 2 feet in length and having an iron or steel blade, tomahawks are able to hit with one hell of a punch. A single strike could smash bones and hack through flesh, which Jonah uses quite effectively at close ranges.

Dual Colt Dragoons's: Being a very common pistol the in times just before Jonahs time, the Colt Dragoon was a very powerful and popular revolver during the civil war. While originally being designed to with packable cylinders, Jonahs specific revolvers were altered so that they would use cartridges. The gun had a range around 80 yards, and it packed one hell of a punch, having a similar impact to its cousin the Colt Walker. Despite this, the gun was less agile in the hand then other revolvers, with the gun weighing around four and a half pounds.

Winchester 1866: While the exact model of winchester that Jonah has used on his journeys hasn't been confirmed or even remained consistant, based on the time when Jonah opperated as a bounty hunter, I would bet its a winchester 1866. Being a very common gun used during the times after the civil war, the 1866 was a powerful gun. While it held less rounds then the earlier Henry rifle, only holding ten, the 1866 had an Uberti loading gate, allowing the user to more easily load in roads much faster and much more easily. The rifle had a maximum range around 300 yards, but an effective range closer to 100.

X-Factors[]

Fitness: Being born and brought up as a slave, Django was himself physical hardened. He was able to power through large amounts of physical pain and power through nasty injuries. He was able to walk across the desert for 10s of hours on end while barefoot. He was tortured at Candyland and was later that day up and fighting again. He also had very good reflexs, having an incredible ability with the quick draw. Jonah, due to his frontier/low tech upraising also lived a very harsh early life. He was able to power through and keep fighting through several gnarly injuries in combat, and was able to power through getting the devils mark. He also had incredible quick draw skills as well.

Experience: Django spent most of his life as a slave on a plantation, meaning he didn't have an incredibly long history as a warrior. But in his time as a bounty hunter he did a lot of things. He was able to kill multiple when without training or practice. He killed handfuls of men while hunting with King Schultz, and absolutely massacred the majority of the men in Candyland within several massive fights. Jonah Hex grew up with the Apache, living most of his younger life hunting and likely fighting. Jonah went on to fighting in the civil war, fighting in several battles and in many skirmishes. He then after the war went to hunting large amounts of criminals as a bounty hunter.

Marksmanship: While Django was never professionally trained in marksmanship, he did show himself to be an very good with guns natively. He was able to effective snipe a moving man off his horse with a gun after having never used it before. He was able to land hits on very small points of targets from fair distances away on a quick draw. During his massacres at Candyland, Django was able to effective gun down dozens of moving men with ease, even while short on rounds. Jonah Hex was also a very skilled Gunman. He was trained with guns and other ranged weapons by the Apache, and also gained extra training while in the army. He showed his skills with marksmanship on many occasions, being able to gun down many foes, even those with somewhat supernatural powers. His quick draw saw good enough, to the point were he out drew Wild Bill Hickok, though Bill was a zombie at that point, so he may have been hampered in his quick draw abilities.

Scenario[]

This battle will take place in a small, lightly populated village in Russia. Both Django and Jonah have bounties on their heads, with the other trying to hunt the other down. They will meet up and confront the other in a saloon. The fight will be too the death.

Battle[]

Django stood at the bar, sipping from a roughly molded clay cup. The crowd around him was sparse, with only a few other lowly adventurers and village folk sitting around him. He had been moving from town to town for nearly a month now, trying to evade the men hunting him. As he drank, he heard someone enter through the double doors behind him. Django glanced back, only to see a tall, blonde man, dressed in a grey confederate uniform and with a substantial facial scar. “Damn” he thought to himself. Just based on his appearance, this man was likely a man hunting him. He was incidentally also the man he’d been searching for as well. He took one more sip from his glass before putting it down. After a short pause, the man behind him spoke.

"Django Freeman. You know why I’m here” he said, his hands reaching towards his pistols. “You know your options. I’m leaving them up to you”. Django brought his hands down, resting them on his gun belt, fingers wrapped around his pistol handles. He took a deep breath before acting. “Alright Hex” he sighed before acting. Within a single movement Django hand spun around, both revolvers drawn. Two bangs fired off, followed by a loud clambering. As Django fires off two rounds, Jonah was able to react quickly, dropping two one knee and rolling sideways, knocking into a chair. As he dropped, he drew his pistol, firing a single shot. The round whizzed by Django's head, the bullet just barely missing him. As Jonah landed on us feet in a squat, he brought up his other Dragoon. But as he fired off another round, Django had already dove over the bar.

The two cocked their guns, preparing for another pass. Due to a lack of cover. Jonah hoped to his feet, quickly diving towards a nearby table and flipping in on its side. But as he moved, Django hopped up, firing off two rounds at him. But due to Jonah's own reflexes, the bullets just barely fell short. Popping up from his table, Jonah quickly got to his feet and fired off two more shots. One ball stuck the wall near him, with the other grazing by Django's shoulder, causing him to drop down. Django, seeing that he was out matched, knew he had to get out of the saloon. He then put away his left hand revolver, hopping up and leaping over the bar. But as Jonah got up to fire, Django began fanning the hammer to his pistol, firing off 4 bullets. Being taken by surprise, Jonah quickly dropped back down, but not before being struck in the shoulder by a ball. Wincing with pain, Jonah quickly got back to his feet. At the same moment, Django has fled out the door, running into the street towards his horse.

He got to the animal, removing his Henry from its sheathed position on the saddle. And as Jonah came running out the door, Django began unloading into the building front and towards Jonah. Being forced to dodge back, Jonah lept back inside the saloon. Django then jumped back onto his horse, kicking the beast into action. But as he began to flee, Jonah came running from the building, a Winchester in his hands. He took an aimed shot at Django. The ball flew through the air, striking Django in the shoulder. The impact of the blast was itself enough the knock Django off his horse, sprawling him across the muddy ground. But as Jonah reloaded and prepared another shot, Django had already bounced back. He fired off another round from Henry, causing Jonah to break his concentration to dodge. But as Django prepared another shot, the gun jammed. “Fuck” he grunted as he scrambled too his feet. Abandoning his rifle, Django drew a revolver with his good hand as he bolted towards a nearby building.

He took cover as Jonah took another shot, the ball missing him. Django swung, firing his pistol, causing Jonah to dodge again. Jonah began running towards him, preparing another shot. But as he brought up his gun to fire, Django swung back around again. This time he fired off another round, with the ball striking Jonah in the hand. Jonah hissed with pain as the first digit of his left pointer finger blasted off. He dropped his rifle, instinctually drawing his revolver and firing off a shot. The ball dug up a section of the beam near Django's head, causing him to flinch. As Jonah cocked the pistol, Django dove back, running along the side of the house. Jonah swung around the side of the house, taking two pop shots. Django evades both, hitting the ground and pouncing forwards, swinging around to the back of the house. He then popped his hand back, firing off another shot blindly. As he got to his feet, he looked around the corner, only to see nothing. A moment later, the sound of glass shattering sounded, causing Django to look towards the window near him.

Like a grey streak of light, Jonah dove out of the broken window, landing in a crouch after rolling head on our heels. He was a close range, giving Django a free shot. But as Django brought up his pistol, Jonah had already swung around and began firing off his own round. Two bangs sound, with two shouts of pain following. The bullet aimed at Django hit him in his good shoulder. The bullet aimed at Jonah whizzed by his face, blasting apart his right ear. Both men fell backwards, Django slumping against the house. Jonah fell to his knees as he gripped at the remaining half of his ear. But he was quickly able to get back up, drawing up a tomahawk from his belt. He began closing in, soon getting within melee range of Django. “You should’ve given up when you could’ve” he said as he brought up the axe. But Django was done just get, with all the strength he had left, he brought forwards his hand, a metallic click sounding as he did so.

In his hand was a simple derringer, pointed towards Jonah ribs. With a bang, the gun fired off. But instead of landing home, the gun misse as Jonah contorted at the waist, the bullet only just piercing his flesh. Jonah, now panicked, then brought down the axe into Django, the blade piercing his shoulder and onto his neck. In one last act of belligerence, Django grabbed Jonah's hand, trying to stop him from striking again. But due to a mix of blood loss and physical damage, Django wasn’t strong enough. Jonah pulled the axe free, bringing it down on Django's head, killing the black bounty hunter. Jonah then stumbled backwards, panting heavily. He was wounded and in pain, but alive, and with a sizable bounty now under his belt. He laid back, grabbing at his wounded hand. As he panted, a number of citizens arrived, surrounding him. “Fetch the Sheriff and a Doctor” he said as he closed his eyes in exhaustion, letting the people’s him running to get him aid.

Conclusion[]

While Django put up one hell of a fight, Jonah simply had him beat in most catagories. Jonah was a more trained and experience warrior, pretty much winning him the X-factor catagory. He also had much greater feats to his name, doing things which far exceeding anything Django could do. And to top it all off, most voters generally sided with Jonah as having better equipment, which pretty much gave garenteed Jonahs victory.
