Making a season in this wiki is super hard. But I am trying my best. To give myself a breather, I decided to delve into a genre that I know and love. A genre that combines two of my favorite forms of story-telling media: Video Games and Literature! This genre is known today as GameLit and LitRPG!
So today in this blog, let's pit two famous GameLit protagonist in a duel to the death! Richter! The wise-cracking but super cunning chaos lord! Versus, G.I.!, the shy but brave otaku girl! In a battle between two pop culture spouting, awesome geeky main characters, who is... DEADLIEST?!
Richter[]

"I am not from here. My home is called Earth. Specifically, ATL, Georgia shawty! No...?" - Richter
Richter (real name James) is the main protagonist in the Chaos Seed series and is Lord of the Mist Village. Originally from Earth, Richter was suddenly transported to a video game-like world by unknown entities as a chaos seed human. Forced to fend for himself in an alien world, Richter tried to learn everything that he could about magic and combat, becoming one of the world's most formidable combatant. Richter is a steadfast, solid person who cares very deeply about his friends and Mist Village underlings. Although he loves shiny new equipment and magical items, material wealth never takes precedence to those he cares about. A person who is a friend to Richter can count on his loyalty until death. He takes seriously those who swear fealty to him as Mist Village residents, while still fairly treating those who choose not to swear.
Despite his deep personal connections, he never makes decisions blindly, even where his friends are concerned. He always tries to look at all angles in the decisions he makes and weighs the pros and cons of each before deciding. These qualities make him an excellent leader, and most of those who get to know him personally have no problem swearing their fealty. In his own conversations, Richter often lets slip colloquialisms common to his life on mundane Earth, usually confusing those he is talking with.
Weapons and Items[]
- Wooden Bow: Richter's favored weapon was a magical bow given to him by the Hearth Mother. The bow was devastating, capable of killing goblins and trolls, and could be imbued with magic. A few magical abilities and items were used in conjunction with the bow:
- Zoom: An ability where Richter could zoom in on a target for better accuracy.
- Imbue: An ability where Richter could fill his arrows with mana and making them explosive. This took time but the more mana Richter could imbue in his arrows, the bigger the explosions.
- Drill Shot: An ability that allowed Richter to defeat armored enemies.
- Arrow of Negation: A special arrow and Richter's most dangerous weapon. The arrow has a special ability where it could negate an enemy's protective magical barriers.
- Chest Plate of the Wood Sprite: Armor breastplate made up of magical wood. Good against blades and also arrows as seen when Richter fought a skeleton archer.
- High Steel Sword and Daggers: Richter's melee weapons that he used to defeat both human and non-human threats.
- Healing Items: Richter had an assortment of healing items from potions, herbs, and a ring called the Minor Ring of Healing that could heal him minimally when active.
- Necklace of Scry Defense. A powerful defensive item that could block all but the most powerful scrying spells. Richter also became undetectable by divination, identification, tracking or detection spells.
- Mist Village: Richter's base of operations. As long as Richter was near its vicinity, this area could replenish mana, lighten dark places, and grant several abilities, such as:
- Concealing Mist: A foggy atmosphere that could turn Richter and any allies invisible.
- Confusing Mist: Another form of mist that instead confuses enemies.
- Summon Minions: Richter could summon minions, but as of now he could only create builders who could create houses, and Futen, a floating orb that could turn invisible and scout ahead, giving Richter valuable intelligence.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Health, Mana, and Other Stats: Like most LitRPG protagonists, Richter's basically had superhuman strength, speed, agility, and durability, which he kept track of using stat sheets. He also had 290 health points. A few of his most dangerous stat ability was his charisma. The guy could use his words to remove suspicion, put people at ease, and seduce them to his bidding. He used very well to infiltrate Leaf's Crossing, a totalitarian xenophobic place that was not keen with outsiders.
- Spells and Charms: As a fantasy-based warrior, Richter was trained in magic. Most of his spells relied on mana and each had their own cooldowns and durations, etc. For his magic, Richter had 250 mana points.
- Barkskin: This Earth magic spell increases Richter's natural armor by +2. This is a spell of Earth Magic. Cast time is 1 second. Cost 20 mana. Duration is 20 min. No cooldown.
- Summon Insects: Summons a host of stinging and biting insects in a ten foot wide circle. Causes minimal damage, but impedes concentration. This is a spell of Earth Magic. Duration is 5 minutes. Range is 20 feet. Cast time: 1 second. Cool down is 20 minutes.
- Grease: This spell will make a 10x10 foot area slick greatly increasing the chance of anyone in the area falling down. This is a spell of Earth Magic. Cost 15 mana. Duration is 5 min. Range is 25 feet. Cast time is 2 seconds. Cooldown is 10 min.
- Ice Dagger: This spell will throw a dagger made of ice at your target. This is a spell of Water Magic. Cost 20 mana. Duration is 1 min. Range is 40 feet. Cast Time is 1 second. No cooldown.
- Haste: This spell will increase the speed of the target. This is a spell of Air Magic. Cost 25 mana. Duration is 10 min Range is 5 feet. Cast Time is 1 second. No cooldown.
- Errant Wind: Increase the dodge of your party to projectiles. This spell will only work when Richter is outdoors where wind is present. This is a spell of Air Magic. Cost is 50 mana. Duration is 20 min. Range is 50 feet. Cast Time is 4 seconds. Cooldown is 45 min.
- Charm: Richter can convince an enemy that they are his friend. In battle they will fight for him. Casting this upon a creature lowers their regard after the spell wears off. However, stronger or higher-level enemies can remain unaffected. This is a spell of Illusion Magic. Cost is 60 mana. Duration is 1 hour. Range is 20 feet. Cast Time is 1 second. Cooldown is 10 minutes.
- Night Vision: Richter can see even in the deepest darkness. This is a spell of Dark Magic. Cost is 5 mana. Duration is 3 hours. Range is 10 feet. Cast Time is 1 second. No cooldown.
- Cloying Darkness: Cast a cone of thickened darkness from Richter's hand. Movement and Attack speed of targets are decreased by 20%. All in area of effect will suffer from spell. Will not work in direct sunlight. This is a spell of Dark Magic. Cost is 30 mana. Duration is 10 minutes. Range is 10 feet. Cast Time is 1 second. Cooldown is 5 minutes.
- Troubled Sleep: Places Richter's target in a restless sleep. They will then be plagued by nightmares until awakening. Any attack or hostile action taken against target will awaken them. Area of effect is five feet. This is a spell of Dark Magic. Cost is 50 mana. Duration is one hour. Range is 15 feet. Cast time is 3 seconds. Cool down is 15 minutes.
GI[]

"It seems that life is filled with bad decisions, Charlie-kun. It seems my brother and the captain weren't immune to it too. But I know... I fucking know... nobody fucks up everything worse than me." - GI
Haruhi Kinomoto, aka GI or the Great Idiot, is the protagonist of the novel Otaku Girl. She is a kind teenage Japanese girl and an otaku who loves manga and anime. Her story takes place in a virtual reality world called the Escapist Dream, a place that allows anyone who visits it to gain superhuman abilities derived from characters in films, comics, anime, video games, and other fictional media. She had started visiting the Escapist Dream a year before the start of the novel, only for the virtual reality world to suffer a malfunction which trapped its visitors inside. They are then forced to fight for survival against rogue artificial intelligences who have begun attacking them.
She was trapped inside the Escapist Dream together with other geeks, nerds, and gamers. There she met Charlie Anderson, a geek sent by the FBI to assist them. Throughout the story, Haru and Charlie fought against powerful AIs who had taken over the different areas of the Escapist Dream, such as Stan City, the place inspired by American comic book and superhero fiction; Otaku Academy, a place inspired by Japanese manga and anime; Gamer's Den, an area inspired by video games and gaming culture; and the Library, an area influenced by classic literature. Many of Haru and Charlie's enemies range from powerful AI bosses to AI dressed as memes. By the end of the series, she and Charlie became married.
Weapons and Items[]
- HUD and Inventory: GI had an in-built heads-up display that allowed her to keep track of her health, level, and summons. She also had an inventory where she kept her items and whatnot.
- The Program: A mysterious item that could hack the Escapist Dream that Charlie Anderson brought. This item essentially turned GI into a goddess in the same vein as Madoka in Puella Magicka. With this, GI could summon items or even destroy universes and universal beings like the Nihilion. However, GI had no training or much knowledge with the weapon, seemed not fond of using it, and thus used it only when extremely necessary. She only managed to use it during the final battle and nothing else.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Anime Powers: Haru is stronger, faster, and more durable than a normal human inside the Escapist Dream. In combat, Haru fights using an assortment of anime powers she had unlocked, most of which are summons. However, if her summons are killed, then she looses them from her list of powers. There's no rule stated in the Escapist Dream on how many summons she can use in battle, but she seems to favor using one at a time.
- Helena: Haru has her own Stand similar to that from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures. Her Stand’s name is taken from the My Chemical Romance’s song of the same name. Her Stand’s moves include:
- Ora!: Helena can send hundreds of straight punches with machine gun like speed, enough to create a crater.
- Kill Joy Fist: Helena punches an enemy with so much force that said enemy explodes into blood and guts.
- Za Warudo: The move that DIO’s stand also possessed, Za Warudo literally stops time around the battlefield for a limited amount of time.
- Zhou: A celestial spirit similar to the ones in Fairy Tail that Haru can summon using a key. Zhou is a magical half human-half pig who will attack anyone Haru wanted to be taken care of. Once Zhou targets an enemy, she would then charge at said enemy. And whoever makes contact with her will bloat and become so fat they become colossal and immobile. Her powers can affect more than one enemy.
- Mochi: A cute character from Monster Rancher. Mochi takes a form of a mammalian duck-like monster who can do stuffs like:
- Canon: An ability where Mochi fires an energy beam from its mouth.
- Petal Dance: A move where Mochi spins and summons weaponized petals to attack enemies around it.
- Helena: Haru has her own Stand similar to that from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures. Her Stand’s name is taken from the My Chemical Romance’s song of the same name. Her Stand’s moves include:
- Additional Powers: Besides her superpowers and standard-issued superhuman physicality, GI also has other abilities granted to her by the Escapist Dream. Some are basic gameplay, while others were unlocked by GI herself.
- Regeneration: In the Escapist Dream, Haru has a life bar than decreases every time she is attacked and regenerates if she's out of danger. Her regen acts the same way as a healing factor, not entirely instant, but quick enough. However, attacks that are set-up or done through stealth would deal increased damage to her life bar. Besides her healing factor, she was also extremely durable, capable of surviving gunshot wounds, gigantic tidal waves, and being flicked by a kaiju-sized Big Chungus.
- Magical Girl Transformation: Haru can also transform herself into a magical girl. Although we don't know much about what her magical form is capable of, Haru seems to only used it as a distraction. The blinding lights and the fact that she becomes naked for a few seconds makes for a shocking and awkward distraction.
- Mind Protection: A simple ability that GI had unlocked, which gave her protection from telepathic, psychic, and other forms of mind control.
X-Factors[]
- Training
Richter takes a slight edge here. The guy has been trained in combat and magic by both Sion, a wood sprite prince and warrior, and Futen, Richter's second hand in the Mist Village. He even received further training from three masters in the art of magic and combat: Ulinde, Zarr, and Quasea. GI never really had that much training. She learned a bit of basics from her brother, and some tactics from Charlie Anderson. But these were more like gameplay tutorials than actual combat training.
- Experience
Both Richter and GI had faced many enemies. However, compared to the Japanese otaku, the American geek's were more brief. Sure, Richter had defeated hobgoblins, skeletal warriors, giant trolls, professional thieves and bandits, as well as beasts like wolves and a skeeling, a creature which was a cross between a bear and an armadillo. In comparison, GI had fought AIs with powers inspired by comics, anime and video games. She'd fought muscular orcs, fire-breathing dragons, tentacle monsters, Big Chungus, and the all-power reality-warping Nihilion.
- Tactics
In terms of intelligence, the two had their share of wit and cunning. And while GI’s triumph over DudeAssassin and Nihilion were noteworthy, it’s rather clear that she was more of a follower than a leader. I mean, the girl was captured at least three times. And there’s a reason why she earned the nickname the “Great Idiot”. Richter had shown the capabilities of being a leader. He managed to transcend the talent for role playing games into warfare. He led Sion, Futen, and Terrod into battles where they were outgunned and outnumbered. Besides these, Richter was also talented in stealth and diplomacy.
Notes[]
- Battle takes place in a neutral dimension. Richter and GI were transported to this place by an unknown entity.
- This will be Richter at the end of The Land: Founding and GI at the end of Otaku Girl, right after beating the Nihilion. Each are fully able to use their abilities during these books in the dimension they will be fighting at.
- Battle ends either in death, knockout, incapacitation, or surrender.
- In making this battle, I only added the most notable, consistent, and combat-based powers and weapons of the two. I apologize if I left some info out but please feel free to correct me. Both books are free online anyways so you can also check them out.
