Batman[]
Bruce Wayne, the Batman is a vigilante and detective home to Gotham City, where he makes his rounds as a feared symbol of opposition to crime and justice. He is one of the most infamous superheroes on Earth, and is a member of the Justice League. The son of philanthropists' Thomas and Martha Wayne, Bruce lived in a relatively comfortable upbringing until a night at the Monarch Theatre. Bruce's parents were killed in front of him by Joe Chill, leaving Bruce traumatized and under the care of the family butler, Alfred Pennyworth.
Out of vengeance for his parents and newly founded dedication to clean crime from the streets of Gotham, Bruce traveled the world to learn from some of Earth's greatest martial artists and teachers to hone himself into the perfect fighter and investigator, and overcome his childhood fears, under the support of his family's wealth. Returning to Gotham, Bruce took on the persona of the Caped Crusader, Batman, a vigilante who terrorized Gotham's criminal underworld each night. He would take on various criminals active both before, and as a result of his intervention in Gotham, collecting a fairly large gallery of rogues dedicated to thwarting Batman alongside their own personal desires. Although a solo actor in his early years, Bruce would take in several apprentices and allies in order to support him in his efforts at stopping crime, in the form of the Batfamily.
Batman would receive global recognition for his heroism, and became a trusted member of the Justice League alongside other renowned superheroes such as Superman and Wonder Woman. Bruce would provide a pivotal role in both local and wide scale conflicts, striking as low as The Joker in their long war over Gotham, to conflicts that threatened both the world and even the DC Multiverse at large against Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor.
- Batarangs: Batman's most iconic tool, Batarangs are a non-lethal alternative to firearms and utility tools used by Batman. Consisting of both a sharp inner edge and blunt outer edge, this allows Batman to use them flexibly as a piercing weapon against inanimate objects or non-living beings and as a way to knock out criminals. Besides the standard varation, there are several specialized batarangs that Batman uses for a variety of purposes, with in-built tracking devices, explosives, recording equipment such as cameras, sonic emitters and EMPs, and even smoke propellants.
- Explosives: Batman also carries several hand-held explosives such as smoke capsules or pellets, plastic explosives, flashbangs and tear gas pellets.
- Grappling Gun: As a form of maneuverability and utility for crossing long distances, Batman carries a modified grapple gun. Resembling a handgun, the device fires a grappling hook from an extended line. These lines can support the weight of Batman even if he's holding other fully grown humans, and are durable enough to break blades on contact. Batman can also use the gun for direct damage, as he has used it to pierce through Parademons, Mister Freeze's gun, and metal.
- Utility Belt: Batman wears a toolbelt, carrying all of his equipment. These include the items listed above and several other random tools such as bolas, hardening foams, medical equipment, sedatives, etc.
- Batsuit: Batman's getup to conceal his identity, the Batsuit may appear to be just a wacky costume, but it is much more. Composed of Kevlar and a percentage of titanium, the suit is effectively bulletproof in most areas excluding Batman's jaw, and is also flame retardant and insulated, while overall improving surviability for most forms of attack (shrapnel from explosions, large falls, etc). The gloves and boots are reinforced to rebount physical impacts, the former also carrying sharp blades on the sides. The lightweight composition of the cape allows for gliding. The cowl itself is incorporated with various sytsems to allude detection and increase Batman's overall vision, such as led to block out X-Ray technology, night vision and infrared viewing modules, enhanced auditory sensors and vocal transmitters, sonar technology, and several security systems to defend against unwanted access.
Experience[]
Batman has been active for nearly a decade, and has gone through many conflicts since. Ranging from localized crime wars across Gotham such as Hush's rampage and the Joker War, to planetary threats such as Darkseid's many invasions, Doomsday's arrival on Earth, and the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Batman managed to survive throughout all of these conflicts, though he didn't do so through pure ruggedness on his own but rather, allies and advanced technology which allowed him to stay in the fight.
Combat Mindset[]
Batman is a nonlethal fighter, explicitly going lengths to prevent himself from falling into the abyss after killing someone, but that doesn't necessarily mean his methodology isn't brutal and efficient. Bruce uses his stealth and training to shatter his opponents, both mentally and literally, with hard-hitting ambush attacks or quick close takedowns that will allow him to easily incapacitate them, though he's also just as willing to take his time to play the long game in drawn out fights, games of cat and mouse, or even endure weeks of captivity and torture for the right moment to come to pass.
Creativity[]
Batman is a highly trained and effective thinker in combat, using his environment and the shadows to blindside his enemies, but he has a self-admitted weakness in being narrow-minded. Bruce is capable, but if an opponent knows how to read him and how he works, he can be reduced to a fairly predictable adversary. Luckily, 99% of people on DC!Earth and the universe at large haven't seemed to crack the code entirely, but the 1% of exceptions do exist, like Lady Shiva and Cassandra Cain.
Boba Fett[]
Boba Fett was the genetically cloned son of famed galactic bounty hunter Jango Fett, and himself became one of the most feared and respect bounty hunters to ever thrive within the Galaxy, making a name for himself and his family from the Clone Wars all the way to the era of the New Republic. Artificially born on Kamino between 32 and 31 BBY, at the request of Jango. Boba spent much of his time in the confines and safety of Kamino's cloning facilities when Jango would go out to fulfill his duties as a bounty hunter, but would occasionally travel with his father on missions and learn from him.
During the Battle of Geonosis, Jango would be killed by the Jedi Master Mace Windu, leaving Boba an orphan. In his grief, and most of the assets rewarded to Jango being in the possession of Count Dooku, Jango fled the planet with his father's armor and the Slave I. From here, Boba would fall in Aurra Sing and several other bounty hunters as he attempted to reclaim his father's wealth and evade capture from both the Republic and the Separatists, becoming an amateur bounty hunter as he and several confidants formed a plot to assassinate Windu, though they ultimately failed in their efforts. Boba would take on several bounty hunting hustles from there, and got a second chance at Windu once again, though wasn't able to kill him the second time either.
Fett would attain much of his infamy and reputation during the Imperial era, where he extensively worked for, and occasionally against, the ruling Galactic Empire. He became a trusted associate to Darth Vader in particular after several jobs and altercations the two had gotten into, and worked alongside several other bounty hunters such as his childhood friend Bossk. Fett would play a key role in the Occupation of Bespin where he captured Han Solo so Vader could freeze him in carbonite. When Luke Skywalker arrived on Tatooine to rescue Han and his sister Leia who were under the literal ownership of Jabba the Hutt, Fett took part in the ensuing fight on the Hutt's skiffs, where Boba was knocked into a Sarlacc Pit, being presumed dead.
Fett had in fact survived the ordeal however, and eventually made a grueling escape out of the Sarlacc against all odds. He would return to bounty hunting for a time Post-Empire, but his degrading physical health as a result of his time in the Sarlacc left him to desire retirement. When he returned to Kamino to replace a missing leg, Fett's old associate Taun We had asked him to hunt down Fenn Shysa, leader of the Mandalorian Protectors, out of revenge for their attack on Kamino. Fett tracked Shysha down to the planet of Shogun, where he killed Shysa, elevating him as the leader of the Protectors and Mand'alor, at the dying wish of Shysa.
During the Yuuzhan Vong War, Fett led the Mandalorians initially as mercenaries employed by the Vong, while passing information to New Republic intelligence, before officially turning on the Vong and leading his people against them to the final days of the war. Since then, he played a role in the Second Galactic Civil War as a mentor to the Jedi Jaina Solo Fel, and later rescued the imprisoned Chief of State of the Galactic Alliance, Natasi Daala, in exchange for creating an antidote for a nanovirus he was inflicted with.
- EE-3 Carbine Rifle: The EE-3 Carbine was a blaster rifle modeled after the later Imperial standard-issue E-11 blaster rifle, being found mostly in the hands of mercenaries. The EE-3 consisted of a small handle attatched to a long circular barrel. Boba's EE-3 was modified with a sawn off barrel, foldable stock and a scope for both long and short distance shooting. Blasts from Boba's EE-3 could reduce a target to a smoldering skeleton and was stated to be capable of putting fist-sized smoldering holes through chests.
- Gauntlets: Boba's gauntlets were packed-in with several different weapons and tools, usually mounted in the wrists. He primarily used a Czerka XZ Miniature Flame Projector in his left gauntlet to douse enemies in flame at short ranges, a Dur-24 wrist laser with firepower comparable to a blaster rifle, and an MM9 mini concussion rocket system which carried a variety of small wrist-mounted rockets including Type-12 anti-personnel and stun rockets. In his right gauntlet was a fibercord whip with a grappling device to restrain targets, as well as retractable vibro-blades and a dart launcher.
- Detonators: Boba used several remote detonators and grenades throughout his career, including explosive detonation packs, thermal detonators, CryoBan freezing grenades, and sonic-based detonation devices or emitters to stun targets.
- Jetpack: On his back, Boba wore a Mitrinomon Z-6 Jetpack for aerial movement, taking after his father. It had a tank which could hold enough fuel for a minute of use, with each additional blast of the pack boosting him about 100 meters horizontally or 7 meters vertically, able to reach speeds topping at 145 kph. The top of the jetpack was refitted to carry an anti-vehicle missile.
- Durasteel Armor & Helmet: Passed down from his father post-mortem, Boba wore a set of durasteel Mandalorian armor. The armor provided decent protection against kinetic and explosive impacts as well as blaster bolts, and was completely fireproof. Boba also carried a fully enclosed Mandalorian-style helmet with a mounted antenna. The helmet possesses various modifications through a macrobinocular viewplate including motion and sound sensors, an infrared vision device, filters allowing him to darken his vision for eye protection against Tatooine's blinding dual suns and explosions, and scanners able to detect microscopic objects. His helmet was also capable of filtering out unwanted molecules and could seal itself entirely, with a 2 hour oxygen supply.
Experience[]
Boba has been active since he was a child, training under Jango's wing, and became a bounty hunter shortly after into his teens. He's gone up against the highest profile security of the galaxy, the sharpest mercenaries in the shed, and some of the most legendary Jedi out there, making a name for himself that brought fear into many during the Imperial era. Boba was active and played key roles in some of the galaxy's widest scale conflicts, including the Clone Wars, Rebellion, Yuuzhan Vong invasion, and the Second Galactic Civil War, all of which he took part in some level of fighting. He has also made a career not just out of taking on crazy jobs, but killing Jedi, and has fought not just off-screen mooks but some of the best produced by the order.
Combat Mindset[]
Boba's heritage as a Mandalorian may give the impression that he is very honorful, but he's still a bounty hunter at heart. Boba is perfectly willing to use all resources he has available to complete a mission, and do a damn good job at it too. It makes little difference where he's collecting or executing a target, Boba will get the job done as efficiently as possible.
Creativity[]
A simple man making his way through the galaxy, Boba is more practical than he is creative. He improves on his gear as much as possible, and reads his opponents thoroughly, stalling if he needed to, then attempts to exploit whatever weaknesses in them he can find, as shown with Jaina Solo. He's even been able to circumvent the abilities of Force Users in combat, such as when he managed to land a grievous wound on Mace Windu on Coruscant, and landed a clean shot on Vader's helmet during their brief skirmish on Maryx Minor.Scenario & Notes[]
Scenario: Boba has been offered a bounty by a benefactor, with a high price in exchange for Batman's assassination, with very basic information. Batman has been made aware of a hit put on him, but cannot reliably predict who's actually going to come after him. The two meet in a rundown urban area, on the rooftop of a building, on a rainy night.
Notes:
- Batman from the current Rebirth comic run.
- Boba from Legends, between ESB and RotJ.
