Deadliest Fiction Wiki
Cu vs. Darius
And now for the belated finale of my Fate/Deadliest Warrior series. At least until FGO releases a George Washington, William the Conqueror, Sun Tzu, or Hernán Cortés Servant. Poor Season 3 is getting no rep. But regardless, sit down and get comfortable as the Celtic representative Cu Chulainn goes toe-to-toe against the Immortal Persian Darius III to determine who will be the Deadliest Warrior.

Cú Chullainn[]

Heroes always die due to unreasonable orders.
— Cú Chullainn

Born as the demigod son of the god Lugh and the mortal queen Deichtine, Sétanta was destined for greatness. When he was young, Sétanta was sent to live with his uncle, Fergus mac Róich. After accidentally killing the hound of the blacksmith Cullainn, Sétanta offered to act as the hound's replacement, thus earning the name Cú Chullainn, or Hound of Cullainn in Gaelic. Around this time, he also received a prophecy that he would achieve great valor but die at a young age, a fate he readily accepted. This prophecy eventually came true, as Cú Chullainn became one of Ireland's most famed and powerful warriors and died fighting on his feet against impossible odds.

Cú Chullainn does not know what he would use the Grail for, figuring he'd come up with a wish when he gets his hands on it.

  • Strength: B
  • Endurance: C
  • Agility:A
  • Mana: C
  • Luck: E

Class Skills

  • Magic Resistance C: A Skill that protects the Servant against magical attacks. At rank C it cancels spells with a chant below two verses. It cannot defend against magecraft on the level of greater magecraft and Greater Rituals

Personal Skills

  • Battle Continuation A: A Skill that allows the Servant to keep fighting even when mortally injured. The Servant can keep fighting with deadly injuries, though a fatal wound will still kill him.
  • Disengage C: The ability to withdraw from the battlefield and reset the conditions to what they were at the start of the match.
  • Divinity B: A Skill that measures the Servant's divinity. Since Cú is a demi-god, he has rank B.
  • Rune Magecraft B: The ability to use Rune magic. Cú Chulainn was taught the ability to use the 18 rune by Scáthach. Cú dislikes using magic, however, so this Skill is not used much. He mainly uses it to boost his Magic Resistance, gain Clairvoyance, and raise his parameters to rank A. These effects are temporary and he cannot use multiple effects at once.
  • Protection from Arrows B: A Skill that allows the Servant to detect projectiles and react to them in an appropriate manner. It's said that Cú can avoid any long-range attack if he has a visual on the projectile, even allowing him to dodge Noble Phantasms. He can't gain the effects of this skill in regards to wide-range attack types where the attack range of the weapon explodes on impact, or a direct attack by a weapon that has simply long reach.

  • Gáe Bolg: A spear made out of the bone of a sea monster that acts as Cú Chulainn's main weapon. It can be used in two different techniques.
    • Barbed Spear that Pierces with Death: A B rank anti-unit Noble Phantasm. There is a lot of dumb physics bullshit involved with this one, but it essentially makes certain that the spear strikes for the enemy's heart. Only those with a lot of luck can dodge this attack. Requires little mana to use.
    • Soaring Spear that Strikes with Death: A B rank anti-army Noble Phantasm. Cú Chulainn throws the spear, causing a large explosion that can at most target 50 people at once. After the spear has been thrown, it returns too its owner. Unlike Barbed Spear, it takes a lot of mana to use. When thrown the spear travels at Mach 2. The furthest Cú can throw it is 40 km.

  • Darius III[]

    DariusIIIFGO

A descendant of Darius I, Darius III was appointed to the Satrapy of Armenia when he was young and swiftly ascended to the throne after the eunuch Bagoas assassinated his predecessors. Darius deeply desired to be a good king like his namesake ancestor, but this was not to be as Alexander the Great, the man who would later be known as Iskandar, came marching into his lands. Unlike other kings, Darius did not submit to the conqueror and chose to become a tyrannical war king so his people would stand a chance at winning the war. Despite being defeated over and over, Darius would always come back to face Alexander. Despite being ultimately unable to keep his lands from being conquered, Darius left a mark on Alexander, who remembered him as a worthy opponent.

Since Darius can't speak properly, we aren't exactly sure what he would wish from the Grail, though it is very likely he would want to have a proper rematch against Iskandar.

    Class Skills

    • Mad Enchancement B: Boosts the Servant's parameters at the cost of one's sanity. At rank B, most of the Servant's sanity has been lost.

    Personal Skills

    • Golden Rule B: A Skill that measures one's ability to acquire wealth. Having had the financial power to challenge Iskandar, Darius was a rich man indeed.
    • Disengage A: The ability to withdraw from the battlefield and reset the conditions to what they were at the start of the match. At rank A it can remove bad status effects that have been placed on the Servant.g
    • Battle Continuation A: A Skill that allows the Servant to keep fighting even when mortally injured. The Servant can keep fighting with deadly injuries, though a fatal wound will still kill him.

    • Athanaton Ten Thousand: An A rank anti-army Noble Phantasm. Darius summons ten thousand soldiers of the Immortal corps. Although they were regular humans in historical fact, their reputation of being immortal has turned them into walking skeletons and corpses. These soldiers include unarmed skeletons, spearmen, skeletons with blades for arms, cavalry mounted on skeleton horses wielding lances, tall four-armed monsters that can wield multiple weapons, and the skeleton of a giant war elephant Darius himself can mount. Some skeletons even merged together into large, slug-like masses.

    • Axes: Darius duel wields axes he can infuse with emerald flames to perform destructive attacks.
    • Fire breath: Darius can breathe fire at a short distance.

    X-Factors[]

    Training

As a child, Cú Chullainn trained to become a Knight of the Red Branch and further trained under Scatach, who is remembered as one of the best mentors to ever exist.

Details about Darius' training are nonexistent. Although he was raised in a noble Persian household and would have likely been taught at least the basics of warfare from the best teachers money could buy.

    Experience

Cú Chullainn was an accomplished warrior by the time of his untimely death. He achieved many exploits and battled the forces of King Forgall. More impressively, he acted as the backbone of the army of Ulster after its warriors became feeble in the war against Connacht. Cú Chullainn ultimately died facing an overwhelming force while slowly losing his abilities as he was cursed and forced to break an oath with each warrior he slayed.

Darius was an administrator for most of his life. Only when Iskandar invaded his lands did he become a Warrior King and take up arms against the King of Conquerors. Darius and Iskandar's armies would meet each other several times on the battlefield, though it is never specified if Darius personally ever fought or acted as a commander.

    Notes[]

    • The fight takes place on an empty plain.
    • Darius has activated the Athanaton Ten Thousand before the start of the match.

    Voting rules[]

    • The battle is over when either party is dead, knocked out, has been forced to retreat, surrendered, or is otherwise incapable of continuing to fight.
    • Voting ends when I want to end it. I will give everyone a day's notice in the comments and Discord so they can reserve a vote if they want to.
    • To count, votes need to be broken up into edges or be at least a paragraph long.
    • A good rebuttal can knock a vote down to half a point. A counter-rebuttal can restore it to a full point. I decide whether a (counter) rebuttal passes.
