The Hero of Kvatch, eventually recognized as The Savior of Bruma, The Champion of Cyrodiil, the Divine Crusader, and the Daedric Prince of Madness Sheogorath, is the protagonist of the open-world RPG video game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and its expansions.
Their name and past unknown, the Hero's quest began with them locked in prison in the Imperial City. Due to a mix-up, the Hero's cell happened to be an escape route for Emperor Uriel Septim VII. The Hero accompanied Septim and his guards as he fled from assassins. Septim was killed and his last words instructed the Hero to find his last living heir and save the world from the threat of Oblivion.
Freed from prison, the Hero traveled to the city of Kvatch to find the heir, Martin. The city was already under attack by the Daedric beasts of Oblivion, but the Hero saved the city and Martin, earning their title. Now in the service of the imperial bodyguards, the Blades, the Hero trekked across Cyrodiil aiding Martin as he searched for a way to stop Oblivion's conquest of Tamriel.
During the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon's assault on the Imperial City, Martin sacrificed himself to become one with the god Akatosh, sealing the Oblivion gates forever. The Hero's later adventures saw them reforming an ancient knightly order and replacing the Daedric Prince Sheogorath.
