The Destined One is the protagonist of the video game Black Myth: Wukong. A monkey from Mount Huaguo, the Destined One set out on a journey to revive Sun Wukong, later learning that he is meant to be the successor to the Monkey King.
After Sun Wukong was trapped in stone while fighting Erlang Shen, five of his six senses were spread over India and China into five corresponding relics with the sixth sense, his mind, being destroyed. During the following centuries, the monkies of Mount Huaguo attempted to find the relics with the most successful of these monkies being the warrior known as the Destined One.
On his journey, the Destined One battled and befriended many of the enemies and allies Sun Wukong made on his journey to the west, collecting the relics along the way. Upon returning to Mount Huaguo, the Destined One along with his ally Zhu Bajie and mentor the Old Monkey enter a realm created from Wukong’s memories to fuse the relics as the Old Monkey reveals that the Monkey King’s mind was lost and that the Destined One has to act as its replacement.
After battling Sun Wukong's mindless stone husk, the relics fuse into the Destined One, allowing him to assume Wukong's personality. If the Destined One did not battle Erlang Shen, he would accept Wukong's circlet from the Old Monkey and be trapped forever in stone, the Old Monkey having revealed himself as a servant of heaven all along. If he did, however, the Destined One would have seen Wukong’s memories and rejected the circlet, allowing the Monkey King to be reborn.
