In a universe where Giovanni successfully took over the world without the intervention of Red, he discovered the existence of the multiverse within the Pokemon world. Deciding his ambitions should take over the multiverse, Giovanni arrives into the main universe, where he quickly uses his organization of Team Rocket to overthrow Aether Foundation president Lusamine, converting her mansion into his new Team Rocket castle with the help of Aether Foundation turncoat Faba. Utilizing the Ultra Wormhole, Giovanni recruits the leaders of various other villainous organizations from their own successful timelines, dubbing his new multiversal organization Team Rainbow Rocket.
After Elio or Selene arrive to Aether Paradise and discover Team Rocket Castle, they decide to infiltrate the castle to stop Giovanni's plans. The hero encounters the various leaders of the other organizations, beating them all in battles, before discovering Giovanni's machinations are resulting in Aether Paradise becoming the center of a multiversal collapse. The trainer eventually confronts Giovanni himself, who reminisces on the strange familiarity of the circumstances, before defeating him. Giovanni gracefully leaves the castle, returning Aether Paradise to its usual appearance, before musing about a different universe to reform Team Rainbow Rocket and teleporting away.
