It goes without saying... My rebellion is eternal and indestructible.
— Spartacus

Spartacus, known as the Berserker of Black during the Great Holy Grail War, is a Servant from the Fate franchise, first appearing in the light novel Fate/Apocrypha. A rebel leader in life, his desire to battle against oppression has become Spartacus' sole focus as a Berserker-class Servant. This makes him difficult to deal with as a Master, as the power imbalance could lead Spartacus to view their master as an oppressor to crush. He is based on the real life rebel leader of the same name.

Spartacus was a slave and gladiator in ancient Rome who decided to take up arms against his oppressors and became the leader of a slave revolt. Spartacus' rebellion grew with each victory he achieved, the larger it grew as others sought to join the gladiator in his struggle for freedom. Spartacus and his men tried to flee for their freedom by escaping to Scilly but were pinned by the Roman army. Forced to fight, Spartacus led his men from the front and died in battle, suffering his first and only defeat. Although his rebellion failed, Spartacus became a symbol of the oppressed fighting against their oppressors.

Having accomplished great feats in life, Spartacus's essence ascended to the Throne of Heroes after his death and became a Heroic Spirit. His spirit would be summoned into the Great Holy Grail War as the Berserker of the Black faction. Spartacus would also be summoned into the Second Singularity where he ironically became a general for Emperor Nero's Romme against the United Roman Empire and aided Ritsuka Fujimaru in restoring human history. Afterwards, be was summoned by Ritsuka to further aid them in the Grand Order afterwards.
