Now we have already lost friends and loved ones...but England will lose far more if we do not make a stand this day! And yes, some of us may fall but our fight will live on in the minds of those that despise injustice, in the hearts of those that cherish freedom! You are the soul of England, standing firm against tyranny for a real future!
— Robin Hood

After fighting in the Crusades, nobleman Robin of Loxley returns to his home to discover it under the rule of the cruel Sherriff of Nottingham Vaisey. Robin soon becomes an outlaw as he resists Vaisey's rule, becoming known as Robin Hood and forming a group of outlaws known as the Merry Men. Hood's outlaws harass and destroy Vaisey's hold on the town until they discover his membership in the Black Knights, who plan to assassinate King Richard and install Prince John on the throne. The Merry Men travel to the Holy Lands, where Robin stops the assassination plot at the cost of his lover Marian's life.

When Robin and his gang return to England, they begin making several attempts to overthrow and kill Vaisey. Robin and his rival, Guy of Gisborne, soon discover they share a half-brother named Archer. After meeting Archer, Robin and Guy form a tense alliance to take Nottingham Castle to prepare for Richard's return. The duo manage to take the castle with the Merry Men, but Robin is poisoned and Guy is killed in the fighting. Robin helps to lead the evacuation before loosing a flaming arrow into a cache of explosives, destroying the castle and killing the Sherriff. Robin returns to Sherwood Forest with the rest of the evacuees, and dies from the poison.
