Ritsuka Fujimaru is a the protagonist of the mobile gacha game Fate/Grand Order including its adaptations and spin-offs. They is an agent of the Chaldea Security Organization tasked with correcting singularities to stop human history from collapsing in a mission kown as the Grand Order. Although Ritsuka is the Master of many Servants, they are most often assisted by Mash Kyrielight, a Demi-Servant possessing the Heroic Spirit of Galahad.
Ritsuka originally joined Chaldea on a whim, having seen a flyer of the organization at a station. Despite being a civilian with no training or combat experience, they were chosen as a Master candidate only for the sake of shoring up the numbers. On their first day, Ritsuka was put through the Spiritron Dive of an introductory simulated battle but didn’t properly wake up. This resulted in them falling asleep during the orientation speech given by Director Olga Marie Animusphere. Angered by their perceived laziness, Animusphere forbid them from partaking in the recruit’s first mission, leaving them to spend the rest of the day in their room.
When an explosion caused by Lev Lainur Flauros erupted in the Command Room, they and Doctor Romani Archaman sprung into action to aid survivors. They found a gravely wounded Mash and were trapped after Romani left to activate the emergency power. With the procedure still ongoing and the Klein Coffins having locked themselves due to low Rayshift success rates, Ritsuka was automatically registered as a Master and rayshifted to the first singularity. Prior to the rayshift, Ritsuka fought their fear of the surrounding danger to take Mash's hand and support her as she was dying. This display of the innate good in some humans is what convinced Mash’s Heroic Spirit to awaken, turning her into a proper Demi-Servant.
Now finding themselves in a corrupted version of the Fifth Holy Grail War, Ritsuka and Mash established a contract and fought alongside Cú Chulainn who was summoned under the Caster class against the Shadow Servants. Ritsuka and Mash developed their abilities in the process before they finally corrected the singularity and were able to return to the Chaldea headquarters.
Having proven themself to be a capable mage and with the other Master candidates critically wounded or dead, Ritsuka was tasked with spearheading the Grand Order.
