“ | Whatever the upheaval in his life, it had left him living entirely in the present. He was compelled by the past and oblivious to the future.

Being born as the Baronet Corvo, the man who came to be known as Raven would be born into nobility. Given a noble education, Corvo would end up serving in the army of the Lady, the great awakened Empress, and her arcane servants, the Ten who were Taken. As one would expect of a noble, Corvo would take part in an arranged marriage, marrying a woman named Morningstar. Unluckily for Corvo, Morningstar would be a less than decent person.
Whilst away on campaign, Morningstar would conspire with several individuals, one of which being The Limper, one of the Taken, to bump off Corvo and take his assets. They would systematically kill or wrongly imprison all of Corvo’s loyal servants, before setting an ambush for him on his return home. Despite all odds, Corvo survived, and would abandon his old life. There’s no going back after crossing the Taken.
Not long after, he would join the Black Company in the city of Opal, briefly afterwards enacting revenge on Morningstar and her new lovers. Over the course of the next year, Raven would change greatly. He, along with the company's Physician, Croaker, would catch the attention of the Lady herself, and be tasked with several dangerous missions. At the same time, he would become the guardian to a young mute and deaf girl named the company would call Darling.
Raven would truly make a new family in the Company, but this would all be put to the test when it was revealed that Darling, despite all appearances, was a child of prophecy, imbued with powers capable of destroying the Lady and her new empire. Stuck between remaining with his people, or risking Darling’s nature being discovered, Raven chose to protect Darling, abandoning the company in order to keep her safe. If only it was so easy.
