Atreus, commonly known as Pantheon, the Unbreakable Spear, is a playable character the multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends. The former vessel of the god of war, fights on the level of deities through sheer determination.
Atreus was one of the Rakkor, a tribe of warriors. The Rakkor dwelled on the slopes of Targon, a mountain that served as a gateway to the realm of the gods. While his combat skills were unremarkable, Atreus's relentless determination earned him the respect and friendship of Pylas, the tribe's greatest warrior. While on patrol, Atreus and Pylas's unit was ambushed by barbarians. Their allies were slaughtered nearly to a man.
Seeking divine assistance, the pair decided to scale Targon. After weeks of arduous climbing, Pylas succumbed to the harsh conditions, but Atreus persevered and reached the summit. There, he encountered the god of war, Pantheon, who deemed Atreus unworthy. Pantheon took control of Atreus's body, using him to confront the gods' ancient foe, Aatrox. In their battle, Pantheon was defeated, impaled on Aatrox's blade. However, through raw willpower, Atreus survived.
Nursed back to health by Pylas's widow, Atreus resolved to confront Aatrox himself. Even as a mortal, Atreus defeated Aatrox, and the god of war was reborn within him. Later, Atreus faced Viego, the Ruined King, who overpowered him and resurrected Pantheon as his servant. Following Viego's defeat, Atreus was freed, but deprived of power. Reinvigorated by Pylas's memory, Atreus regained his powers and declared himself the protector of all mortals.
