Little is certain of Micolash's past. He was likely a student of Byrgenwerth College and a member of the School of Mensis. Micolash, along with other members of the School of Mensis, attempted to contact the infant Great One Mergo using a Mensis Cage. Micolash was the only survivor of this experiment, but lost his sanity and brought a portion of Mergo's realm to the real world, corrupting the area around him into a hellish location that came to be known as the Nightmare of Mergo.
When the Hunter entered Mergo's Loft, Micolash greeted them before attacking them. Using his knowledge of the terrain and his power over magic, Micolash proved quite the challenge for the Hunter. Despite his best efforts, the Hunter proved too much for Micolash, and he was slain.
