Why did I become king, or rather why did I become such a fantastic leader? It's simple, because no other man in Sparta could make calculations like me.
— Leonidas I

Leonidas I is a Servant from the Fate franchise, first appearing in the mobile game Fate/Grand Order. He is a legendary Spartan king famous for leading the 300 Spartans in the Battle of Thermopylae. Contrary to the popular view of Spartans, Leonidas regards tactics and calculations as important as physical fitness and lements that his countrymen didn't share this view. Being best known for holding the line against an overwhelming force, he is primarily a defensive combatant. He is based on the Spartan king of the same name.

Leonidas was King of Sparta when the Persian Empire lead by Xerxes I invaded Greece. Although Persians seemed to be overwhelming, even forcing several city-states to submit, Leonidas allied with Athens to defend themselves. Upon recieving word from the oracle that Sparta would be destroyed if he survived, Leonidas took 300 of his elite soldiers and awaited the Persians at Thermopylae. For days, the Spartans managed to hold the line against the superior numbers of the Persians, but were betrayed and attacked from behind. Although the Spartans were bested, they bought their allies enough time to prepare and expell the invaders.

Having accomplished great feats in life, Leonidas' essence ascended to the Throne of Heroes after his death and became a Heroic Spirit. During the Second Singularity he was summoned by Lev Lainur to assassinate Nero Claudius, but was defeated by her and Ritsuka Fujimaru's party. Afterwards, he was summoned by Ritsuka to aid Chaldea in the Grand Orders. During the Seventh Singularity, he was summoned by Gilgamesh to train Uruk's soldiers and bolster its forces against the Three Goddess Alliance and would give his life defending the city from Gorgon. In the Moon Holy Grail War he was sold by his Master to Shinji Matou, who corrupted him into a Berserker-class Servant. Alongside a corrupted Darius III and Fergus mac Róich, they attempted to kill Nero, but were soundly defeated.
