A team made of misfits and outcasts throughout history, The Legends are a time-travelling group of superheroes that travel the timeline to stop various villains from wreaking havoc. Initially formed by ex-Time Master Rip Hunter, the original Legends were recruited to help him stop the immortal warmonger Vandal Savage from ever taking power by trying to find a way to kill him. The team is formed up from seven individuals whose loss would not affect history, including multiple current superheroes and two criminals. The Legends succeed in stopping Savage by killing him in multiple points in time at the same moment, and destroy the Time Masters for their aiding and abetting Savage's rise to power.
After stopping Savage, the Legends go on many more adventures with a consistently changing roster of heroes. Among other things, the Legends stop the Legion of Doom from using the Spear of Destiny to rewrite reality, kill the time demon Mallus from ripping a hole in the space-time continuum, prevent a demon invasion from Hell led by Neron, and stop the Fates from reassembling the Loom of Fate. They have also helped in multiple crises on Earth, including two invasions from the Dominators and Earth-X respectively and saving the entire multiverse from the Anti-Monitor.
