I am Outworld's Kahn. I will use ancient Edenian teachings to make myself a better sovereign. With them, I will fulfill my life's mission to better all of Outworld's people, including Edenia.
— Kitana

Kitana is a major character in the second timeline of the Mortal Kombat series. Originally believing herself to be the daughter of Shao Kahn, Kitana turned against the tyrant after learning that he merely brainwashed her and became a close ally of the defenders of Earthrealm.

The princess of Edenia, Kitana lost her realm at a young age after Shao Kahn, with the aid of her tretious mother, Sindel, killed King Jerrod and absorbed the realm into Outworld. Being too young to remember the event, Kitana was raised as Shao Kahn's daughter and top assassin. Her loyalty to her supposed father was shaken after she was defeated by Liu Kang in a failed assassination attempt and subsequently spared.

This loyalty was finally broken when she, with the aid of Raiden, discovered Mileena, a clone of her infused with Tarkatan that was intended to replace her. Angered by this betrayal and in love with Liu Kang, Kitana deserted to Earthrealm and aided in its defense when Shao Kahn invaded it, but was killed by an empowered Sindel and turned into one of Quan Chi's revenants and a minion of Shinnok.

After Shinnok's defeat at the hands of Cassie Cage, she and Liu Kang, who likewise had been killed and turned into a revenant, replaced him as rulers of the Netherrealm.

When the Timequacke occurred, past versions of various warriors were brought into the present, including Kitana. While past Kitana sided against Kronika, present Kitana sided with her under the promise of a better life in the New Era she sought to create. Past Kitana would kill Shao Kahn and seize the throne of Outworld, uniting its races under her banner and aiding the Earthrealm defenders during their assault on Kronika’s Keep. When Kronika reversed time back to the start of the universe, both versions of Kitana were undone.

Battle vs. Mai Shiranui (by MrPacheco101)[]

No battle was written.

Expert's Opinion[]

Kitana is immensely more experience and better trained than Mai. However, Kitana's moveset is much more limited in comparison to Mai's, being mostly focused on anti-air and close-range attacks. Furthermore, Mai's pyrokinesis makes for a more directly lethal magical ability than Kitana's aerokinesis. Mai's overall greater versatility and power would give her the win over the more seasoned Kitana.

Expert's Opinion[]

Pound-for-pound, Kitana and Chun-Li are evenly matched in terms of skill in martial arts. However, the Edenian princess has the edge over her opponent thanks to her bladed fans, aerokinesis, and assassination skills.
