“ | We finally get out here and the 'final frontier' was already settled. And the residents don't even seem impressed by the view. Or the dangers.
— Kaiden Alenko

Kaidan Alenko was a human Sentinel and a Alliance marine who served under Commander Shepard.
When Kaiden was but an unborn child his mother was involved in a crash, exposing him to element zero. Despite how lethal this accident could have been to the infant Kaiden, he survived and developed the ability to use biotics. Since humans who could use biotics were relatively new at the time, Conatix Industries hoped to train the first generation of human biotics through Biotic Acclimation and Temperance Training (BAaT), with Kaiden being one of the children recruited into the program. BAaT proved to be a disaster, however, as they hired a turian bitoic called Vyrnnus, who despised humans for their actions in the First Contact War, and used his position as tutor to torment his students. This eventually escalated in Kaiden killing Vyrnnus when he broke Rahna's arm, a girl Kaiden fancied. BAaT was shut down and all its records were purged to hide the accident. Years later, Kaiden joined the Alliance Navy and was stationed on the SSV Normandy.
During the assault on Saren Arterius' base on Virmire, Kaiden becomes separated from the rest of the squad and gets pinned down by geth soldiers. Shepard can choose to save him but at the cost of Ashley Williams. If Kaidensurvives, she continues to serve on the SSV Normandy until it was destroyed during a superise Collector attack which killed Shepard. Kaiden would have a brief encounter with Shepard a year later after they were revived by the Lazarus Project, though she distrusted her former Commander, fearing that Cerberus might have brainwashed them.
During the Reaper War he was once again placed under Shepard's command but was critically injured during their mission on Mars by a Cerberus infiltration unit disguised as Alliance scientist Dr. Eva. He was swiftly stabilized, however, and was brought to Huerta Memorial Hospital on the Citadel. During his stay, he was granted the position of Specter by Councilor Udina. Just as she fully recovered, Cerberus attempted to stage a coup and he was tasked with protecting Udina, who was secretly working with Cerberus. Shepard eventually caught up with him, leading to a tense confrontation which either ended in Kaiden getting killed or being talked down. Should he survive, Kaiden could once again serve under Shepard or join the team of Admiral Hackett. Should Shepard activate the Crucible, Ashley presumably continues to serve as a Specter but presumably dies otherwise.

Expert's Opinion[]
While Kaidan had the better abilities with his Biotics Sky had the more better weapons and both had important X-Factors on their side with Kaidan having the X-Factors of Training and better Ability and Skt taking the X-Factors of Combat Experience and Hand-to-Hand combat.
