Normally, both your asses would be dead as fucking fried chicken, but you happen to pull this shit while I'm in a transitional period so I don't wanna kill you, I wanna help you. But I can't give you this case, it don't belong to me. Besides, I've already been through too much shit this morning over this case to hand it over to your dumb ass.
— Jules Winnfield

Jules Winnfield is one of the top hitmen in the employ of Los Angeles gangster Marsellus Wallace, and the partner to Vincent Vega. The more bombastic and talkative of the two men, Winnfield is often the one who interrogates targets for information while Vincent observes the area. While on assignment to retrieve a valuable stolen briefcase, Jules and Vincent survive a near death experience when a rival criminal somehow misses all of his shots from point-blank range. While Vincent is quick to dismiss the incident, Jules believes it is divine intervention and thinks that it may be time to retire.

While taking one of the hostages from the scene, Jules and Vincent discuss what may be in the case. Vincent accidentally kills the hostage, forcing them to stop by a mutual friend's house and wait for professional mob cleaner The Wolf to help them sort out the problems. At lunch at a diner, Jules defuses an attempted robbery and holds one of the assailants at gunpoint, before allowing the thieves to leave with his cash. Jules expresses his intent to retire to Vincent, and they then deliver the briefcase to Marsellus Wallace.
