I am a hunter.
— Various Iroquois warriors

The Iroquois, also known as the Haudenosaunee, are a playable civilization in The WarChiefs expansion pack for the video game Age of Empires III based on the real-life confederacy of the same name. Due to extensive trade and contact with the Europeans, the Iroquois use more firearms than other native civilizations, being the only native civilization to use artillery. They also excel in skirmishing but possess weak cavalry units.

The American Revolutionary War greatly stirred up the political stability of the Iroquois, as they were forced to choose a side in the conflict, with the Mohawk and Seneca being the most fervent advocates for siding with the British. Nathaniel Black, the half-Iroquois son of John Black, attempted to keep the peace within the confederation, though his efforts proved fruitless when the Mohawk sided with the Hessian mercenaries led by Sven Kuechler and destroyed Nathaniel's home village, leading to the dissolution of the Iroquois Confederacy.

Despite this, Nathaniel and a group of loyal Iroquois decided to join the Revolutionary War on the side of the rebels, aiding them in many battles, eventually killing Kuechler during the Battle of Morristown. After the Revolution ended in rebel victory, Nathaniel and his men returned home as heroes.
