In Greek mythology, the Hecatoncheires, also known as the Centimanes and the Hundred-Handers, are a trio of monstrous giants. They had fifty heads and a hundred arms each and were loyal to Zeus, the king of the gods.
The three Hecatoncheires were named Briareus, Cottus, and Gyges. They were the children of Uranus, the sky god, and Gaia, the goddess of the Earth. Upon their birth, Uranus was so repulsed by their appearance that he imprisoned them in Tartarus, the deepest part of the Underworld, alongside their brothers, the one-eyed Cyclopes. Enraged by her children's mistreatment, Gaia conspired with her youngest son, Cronus, to overthrow Uranus.
With a sickle, Cronus attacked his father and castrated him. Cronus and some of his siblings, known as the Titans, claimed dominion over the world. Fearing being overthrown by his own child, Cronus swallowed each of his offspring as they were born. His wife, Rhea, heartbroken by the loss of her children, saved her youngest child, Zeus, by hiding him away. When Zeus grew up, he liberated his siblings from Cronus's stomach and declared war on the Titans.
In need of allies, Zeus freed the Hecatoncheires and Cyclopes from Tartarus. In gratitude, they pledged loyalty to Zeus. The Hecatoncheires, with their immense strength and countless arms, hurled massive boulders and uprooted trees at the Titans. Their ferocity and might were instrumental in Zeus's victory. Zeus imprisoned the defeated Titans in Tartarus. He appointed the Hecatoncheires as guards, standing watch over the vanquished for eternity.Battles here were deemed to be unfair or otherwise not in accordance with wiki standards, and have been removed from the statuses of the warriors and displayed below.
