Being a lesser unit used in the pre-Marion Reforms Roman amy, the hastati was one biggest pieces of the Romans army for most of the Republics history. Acting as a form of withering force, most Hastatus forces were considered to be much less equipped and less skilled then the Princeps or the Triarii. The Hastati were a common military force for hundreds of years, but would be phased out during the later times of the Republics. Like all other units they coexisted with, the Hastati would be disbanded during the Marion Reforms.
