He's not some monster trying to evade you. He's just an animal.
— Dr. Niko Tatopoulus

Godzilla, later known as Cyber-Godzilla, is the main antagonist of the 1998 film of the same name and a primary antagonist in the cartoon Godzilla: The Series. It is the byproduct of nuclear testing on a species of marine iguana, mutating into a giant monster that proceeded to attack New York in 1998. After its death, Godzilla was resurrected by the alien race known as the Tachyons to act as a weapon for their invasion of Earth.

Godzilla originated from the Maruroa Atoll Islands and was a typical iguana before being repeatedly exposed to nuclear radiation from nuclear tests. Because of its mutated genes, Godzilla grew to become an enormous monster. When it reached adulthood, Godzilla left its home on the Maruroa Atoll before making its way to the American east coast, destroying many fisher's vessels and rampaging through Panama on the way. It would eventually reach New York City, where it would nest and cause city-wide destruction. After a lengthy battle with the United States Armed Forces, Godzilla and most of its offspring were wiped out, safe for one who would be found by Dr. Nick Tatopoulos shortly after hatching and imprinted on him, eventually becoming the next Godzilla who fought alongside Nick and the Humanitarian Environmental Analysis Team (HEAT).

After its death, Godzilla's body was brought to a military base for study. The Tachyons later took over it and used their technology to resurrect Godzilla. Now known as Cyber-Godzilla, it was sent after HEAT and intimidated its offspring, the second Godzilla, into following its commands. However, Godzilla ultimately chose Nick over Cyber-Godzilla and turned against its mother. The two kaiju did battle, ending with Cyber-Godzilla's second and permanent death.
