Gawain is a Servant from the Fate franchise, first appearing in the video game Fate/Extra. Gawain was seen as the perfect knight and one of the candidates to succeed Artoria Pendragon, possessing great combat prowess and a gallant personality.
As a Knight of the Round Table, Gawain served his King with distinction, protecting the kingdom from various threats. Ultimately, the threat that would undo their realm came from within as Lancelot was caught having an affair with Queen Guinevere. When Guinevere was about to be executed, Lancelot intervened to save her, killing Agravain, and Gawain's brother and sister, Gaheris and Gareth. Although Artoria blamed herself for their deaths and the subsequent collapse of her kingdom, Gawain held Lancelot responsible as the sole perpetrator. That came to cost Gawain dearly as he refused Lancelot’s aid in the leading stages of the Battle of Camlann, during which both he and Artoria died from wounds inflected by the traitorous Mordred.
Having accomplished great deeds in life, Gawain's essence ascended to the Throne of Heroes, becoming a Heroic Spirit. During the Moon Grail War, Gawain was summoned as a Servant by Leonardo B. Harwey. As one of the strongest Servants in the Grail War, Gawain was the opponent of Hakuno Kishinami and Nero Claudius, who ultimately defeated them. He was later summoned a second time to protect SE.RA.PH from Karl der Große.
Gawain was summoned for a third time in the Sixth Singularity along with the other Knights of the Round Table by an alternate version of Artoria called Goddess Rhongomyniad and ultimately sided with her when given the choice out of loyalty, aiding her in conquering most of the singularity. He was ultimately unable to stop Ritsuka Fujimaru from stopping Goddess Rhongomyniad and was later summoned by them to aid them in the Grand Orders.
