Elric of Melniboné is the protagonist of the Elric Saga in the Eternal Champion's series by Michael Moorcock. He is the former Emperor of Melnibone, a Scion for the gods of chaos, and an Eternal champion, a being who constantly fights to bring balance between the entities of Law and Chaos.
Elric would be born into the Royal lineage of Melnibone, but would be looked down upon by his pears due to Albinism and poor health. However, Elric still grew to thrive, becoming a talented warrior and a highly educated scholar in the arts of both science and sorcery.
However, Elric would face much strife during his, with his power eventually being challenged by his Yyrkoon, his cousin, forcing Elric to flee. Elric would return years later, an fleet of ships behind him. He would sack his homeland, burning it to ashes, before slaying Yyrkoon, though at the expense of losing his beloved Cymoril.
Elric would continue on, living as a Mercenary, doomed to the fate of that all Eternal Champions must live with, always doing his best to escape that path, but always returning to it again. Elric would eventually die, being cut down by Stormbringer, reigniting the conflict between Law and Chaos.
