The Daewoo Precision Industries K1 and K2 are a series of assault rifles in service with the South Korean military since 1987. The K2 is externally similar to the AR-18, but its bolt carrier and fire control system are similar to that of the M16, and the gas operation is similar to that of the AK-47. The weapon uses that same 5.56mm rounds and STANAG magazines as the US M16 and many other Western assault rifles.
