The Chicago South Club are the primary antagonists in the video game Watch Dogs. The Chicago South Club is an organized crime syndicate originating in the 1920s, during the prohibition era, where they became the primary rival to Al Capone's Chicago Outfit. Capone ordered a hit on the leaders of the Chicago South Club, of whom of whom only Dermot "Lucky" Quinn survived.
After the downfall of Capone's bootlegging empire following his arrest for tax evasion, Quinn took command of what remained of the gang and branched off into other smuggling operations after the repeal of prohibition. Ever the opportunist, Quinn expanded into new markets over the years, including political corruption, drug dealing, the illegal arms trade, financial crime, human trafficking, and most recently, cyber-crime. The revenue from these enterprises allowed Quinn to buy a number of legitimate businesses, including the Merlaut Hotel.
In 2012, the Club-controlled Merlaut Hotel was hacked by Aiden Pearce and Damien Brenks. In retaliation, Quinn hired hit men from an associate organization, a street gang centered around the Rossi-Fremont Projects known as the Black Viceroys, to assassinate Pearce's family. This had the unexpected impact of driving Pearce on a quest for revenge, which would see him use his hacking prowess, weapons proficiency, and free running skill to bring down the Black Viceroys and the Pawnee Militia, a right-wing militia sometimes hired by the club as hitmen, as well as exposing the corruption in the Blume corporation, a corrupt company associated with the Club, as well as eliminating much of Blume's PMC division, another organization hired by the club as assassins. After the downfall of the Club's allies, Pearce went after the club itself, eventually killing "Lucky" Quinn by hacking into his pacemaker, causing the aging mob boss' heart to give out.
