Based on the comic book character Bullseye, Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter is a major villain in the third season of the web television series Daredevil. Struggling with mental illness and sociopathy, Dex was manipulated into becoming the assassin of an infamous crimelord.
Diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and sociopathy as a child, Benjamin Poindexter joined the US Army for the structure and direction it provided him. After being discharged, Dex became an FBI agent. Dex was assigned to the protection detail of Wilson Fisk, an infamous crimelord who was providing intel to the FBI. Fisk took notice of Dex's unique skills and mental disorders and plotted to use him for his own ends.
Fisk, who had already blackmailed his way into controlling much of detail, had Dex suspended to take away the structure of his life. Desperate, Dex reached out to his former coworker, Julie, for help. Although initially afraid, Julie saw that Dex truly wanted to change and offered to be his social support system. Fisk had Julie killed when he found out. Hopeless, Dex was convinced by Fisk to become his assassin. Dex wore a copy of the costume worn by Daredevil, the vigilante of Hell's Kitchen, during his assassinations, smearing the hero's reputation.
When Daredevil discovered that Fisk had Julie killed, he informed Dex, turning him against Fisk. Dex attacked Fisk's wedding out of revenge and was caught in a three-way fight between himself, Fisk, and Daredevil. Dex's back was broken by Fisk during the fight, leaving him paralyzed. He was recovered and given surgery by an unknown party.
