The defense of internal peace and order constitutes the sacred mission of a nation's armed forces and that is what we have carried out.
— Francisco Franco

The Policía Armada, popularly known as the Gray Ones owing to the color of their uniforms, was an armed urban police force of Spain established by the Francoist regime in 1939 to enforce the repression of all opposition to the regime. Its mission was "total and permanent vigilance, as well as repression when deemed necessary."

Following the overthrow of the Second Spanish Republic in April 1939, Francoist Spain initially relied on the Army to handle public order issues. Employing two sets of laws issued on 3 August 1939 and 8 March 1941 the Spanish State reorganized the police forces of Spain. It established the Armed Police as a gendarmerie-style national armed police that could be used to suppress disturbances of the public order and political organization in urban areas.

A squad of the Imperial Japanese Army formed by four soldiers and an officer prepare to enter an important Spanish city to steal information about Spain and Francisco Franco to blackmail him. Meanwhile, a squad of five Spanish Armed Policemen formed by four soldiers and an official are guarding a zone of the city near the exit of it that is empty due to an important celebration, as they've been told a group of five armed people bearing a uniform that doesn't match with any of the Spanish State has been seen around the province. The Spanish officer is giving instructions to one of them while two other soldiers chat with each other and the fifth observes for possible threats.

The Japanese enter the city and go to an uphill street, upon seeing the Gray Ones in the distance, the officer gives the signal to a soldier, who prepares the Type 89 Discharger and fires an explosive, while the vigilant Spaniard happens to watch the Japanese and tries to warn them, but the round hits, luckily, the explosion doesn't reach the policeman, who briefly falls to the ground, and the rest get alerted.

"Todos! A las armas!" Shouts the Spanish officer.

The Armed Corps grab their weapons, with one soldier at a Valero mortar, another one with a Hotchkiss M25 and the officer and two soldiers with Destroyer carbines while the Japanese have the Type 89 soldier, another one uses a Type 11 LMG and the officer plus the other two soldiers use a Type 99 Arisaka rifle. The soldier with the Type 89 fires another round that lands near the Spanish with the Valero, who fires his mortar that kills the Type 89 soldier and wounds another one because of the radio action. Darkred

The rifle and LMG soldiers keep firing their weapons, with the Spanish soldiers wounding the Japanese officer in the left shoulder and the Type 11 soldier with a shot to the guts with the Destroyer carbines, but he kills the Valero mortar soldier. Grey The wounded Japanese soldier abandons his position to go on a banzai charge.

"Banzai!!" Shouts the Asian, only to get killed by the Hotchkiss. Darkred The officer manages to kill the soldier with the Hotchkiss while he reloads, but due to the recoil he has to ditch the rifle for a Nambu Type 14 pistol. Grey After that, upon seeing the Spanish fire constantly, he orders the two remaining soldiers to retreat, going around the streets, while the Spanish officer orders his men to start chasing them. Going around the city, the Japanese seem to get lost in the numerous dead end alleyways, with the Gray Ones getting closer thanks to their knowledge of the city streets, until they catch up, but the Type 11 Japanese soldier fires his LMG killing one of the Spaniards , but they retaliate and kill him with the Destroyer. Grey Darkred

The Imperial Japanese officer and his last soldier take advantage of that and enter a house, closing the door and seemingly losing the Corps to their relief. Meanwhile the Spanish officer and his soldier look for the two Japanese around the streets with every house door open, until they realize that one of the doors is closed, making them suspicious then giving each other an accomplice smile and going towards the door, peeking carefully and confirming that their two remaining opponents are there. The officer takes out his Star S pistol and kicks the door open while the other Spanish soldier fires his Destroyer Carbine and kills a soldier. Darkred The Japanese officer shoots the Nambu and after two shots, kills the Spanish soldier. Grey

The two officers fire their pistols while the Imperial Japanese one, goes upstairs keeping a bullet in his magazine while the Spanish empties his 8 rounds, not without hitting his opponent in the shoulder again. He's going to shoot but his Nambu jams, making him throw it away in anger, while the Spanish officer laughs at him, only to get his Star S taken out of his hand by a kick from the Japanese, which angers the Spaniard, who goes to try and throw a punch, only to get kicked and punched by the Japanese officer, who grunts in pain due to punching with the wounded arm, the Gray one, takes andvantage by punching him in the face, the stomach and hitting him three times in the gut with the knee. After that, the Spanish throws the Asian to the wall and punches him a couple of times in the stomach, followed by two punches, which make the Japanese fall to the ground. Then, the angered Grey one, starts repeatedly kicking the downed Japanese in the ribs and stomping him in the chest, to, after that, pick his Star S, reload it and shoot his opponent in the head, giving him the victory. Darkred

The Gray one raises his pistol and shouts "Arriba España!" in victory.

Expert's Opinion

Atlhough the Imperial Japanese Army had better training and more experience, that experience is more based in big scale battles, if we look at smaller scale battles, they're not really good. On the other hand, the Policía Armada won thanks to their more reliable and effective weapons weapons and home/terrain advantage, being in their element and moving through the streets with total ease, in contrast with the IJA, who were in a really unfamiliar place.
