Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day!
— Aragorn

Aragorn II, son of Arathorn II and Gilraen, also known as Elessar, was the 16th Chieftain of the Dúnedain of the North; he was later crowned King Elessar Telcontar (March 1, TA 2931 - FO 120 or SR 1541), the 26th King of Arnor, and the 35th King of Gondor and First High King of the Reunited Kingdom. He was a great warrior, and as the heir of Isildur, bore the shards of Narsil, reforged and renamed Andúril, the Flame of the West before the War of the Ring. He was also the father of Eldarion, heir to the throne.

Aragorn was a descendant of Elros Tar-Minyatur, Lord Elrond the Half-elf's twin brother and the first king of Númenor. His ancestor Arvedui was wedded to Fíriel, who bore their son Aranarth, making Aragorn the last descendant of Anárion as well.

When Aragorn was only two years old, his father Arathorn was killed while pursuing orcs. Aragorn was afterwards fostered in Rivendell by Elrond. At the request of his mother, his lineage was kept secret, as she feared he would be killed like his father and grandfather if his true identity as the descendant of Elendil and Heir of Isildur became known. Aragorn was renamed Estel and was not told about his heritage until 2951.

Elrond revealed to "Estel" his true name and ancestry when he was twenty, and gave to him the Ring of Barahir and the Shards of Narsil. Elrond withheld the Sceptre of Annúminas from Aragorn until he "came of the right" to possess the item. It was also around this time that Aragorn met and fell in love with Arwen, Elrond's daughter, newly returned from her mother's homeland of Lórien where she had visited her grandmother Galadriel.

Aragorn thereafter assumed his proper role as the sixteenth Chieftain of the Dúnedain and the Rangers of the North and left the comforts of Rivendell for the wild, where he lived with the remainder of his people, whose kingdom had been destroyed through civil and regional wars centuries before.

Aragorn met Gandalf the Grey in 2956, and they became close friends. Heeding Gandalf's advice, Aragorn and the Rangers began to guard a small land known as the Shire inhabited by the diminutive and agrarian Hobbits, and he became known among the peoples just outside the Shire's borders as Strider.

Battle vs. Link (Twilight Princess) (by Death'sapprentice77)[]

Aragorn appears from the house of Elrond fully healed from his battle with a powerful vampire slayer. He continues into the woods and doesn't get far as an arrow whizzes past his head. He spots Link, a few yards away he shoots a flaming arrow that sends the brush where Link was standing, ablaze. He rolls out of the way only gaining a few minor singes while simultaneously drawing his sword and shield. Aragorn fires a normal arrow this time but to no avail as it embeds itself in Link's shield harmlessly. Aragorn draws out Anduril just in time to block Link's overhead slash the two trade strikes for a bit. Aragorn then disarms Link the ranger tries to get in another blow but is stopped by Link's shield. Link back hands Aragorn with his shield causing him to back up a bit giving Link enough range to get a quick throw at the ranger with his gale boomerang which disarms and dazes him. Link then runs over to where he stashed some bombs. Aragorn runs to retrieve Anduril but is stopped by Link's bomb. Aragorn rolls out of the way but is caught by the shock wave and is singed a little. Link sprints over to the downed ranger and attempts to finish him off but the Ranger acts fast, rolls out of the way, and jabs his dagger in to Link's thigh causing the Hylian to cry out in pain. He takes advantage of this moment and retrieves Anduril. Link limps toward Aragorn and tries an high horizontal slash which is parried by Aragorn who counter with a stab in to the hero's chest. Aragorn with draws his sword from Link's chest and the boy falls backwards in a pool of his own blood. Aragorn raises his sword and gives a victorious cry.

Battle vs. Vrykul (by CuchulainSetanta)[]

Aragorn arrives by ship in Northrend, having tracked an uruk-hai warrior here. As he arrives, a vrykul warrior on a clifftop sees him and readies his harpoon gun. He fires, but Aragorn sees the harpoon flying at him and evades. The vrykul is angered and mounts his nearby proto-dragon.

Meanwhile, Aragorn readies his bow, not knowing where the attack came from. He hears a loud roar and turns, seeing the proto-dragon flying down towards him. Aragorn fires several arrows, but the vrykul steers his dragon out of the way. Aragorn runs as the dragon breaths a stream of fire behind him.

Aragorn pulls out Anduril and readies himself for the vrykul's approach. As the dragon swoops over to try to grab Aragorn, he swings his mighty sword, slicing the dragon's head clean off. The vrykul crashlands, but quickly gets back up, grabbing his spear. Aragorn readies a flaming arrow, and fires at the giant, but the vrykul catches the arrow before it hits him. Bringing it up to his face, he blows out the tip and breaks it in two.

Undeterred by this show of force, Aragorn charges in with Anduril. The warriors clash weapons, until Aragorn chops the vrykul's spear in two. Angered, the vrykul punches Aragorn in the face, knocking him down. Kicking Anduril away, the vrykul picks up Aragorn and prepares to cleave him in half with his battle axe. Just in time, Aragorn pulls out his dagger and throws it into the vrykul's eye. The giant drops Aragorn, who retrieves Anduril and thrusts it into the vrykul's chest. Aragorn pulls out his sword, and as the vrykul falls, thrusts it into the air with a shout of "For Elendil!"

Battle vs. Jon Snow (TV Series) (by Thornclaw Braveheart)[]

Slightly beyond the Wall, Jon Snow is walking through the godswood with his direwolf, Ghost. Trailing him is Aragorn, who has his Dunedain Longbow at the ready. He takes out an arrow, fits it to his bow, and draws it back as far as he can. As Jon nears the edge of the forest, Aragorn lets loose his arrow, but Jon turns around at the last second, and drops himself to the ground as the bow catches his black cloak and narrowly misses his body. Ghost growls as Jon turns towards Aragorn. "Who are you?"

Aragorn drops his longbow and draws Anduril. "The Dunadan."

Jon lifts his own longbow and picks out an arrow, , but barely has time to draw when Aragorn reaches him and swings Anduril, cleaving the bow in half and knocking Jon off his feet. Ghost leaps up and pushes Aragorn onto his back, but Jon gets up and yells, "Ghost, no! He's mine." Ghost whines and walks away, but not before growling at Aragorn, who stands up. Jon draws Longclaw and charges, blades clashing repeatedly until Aragorn slashes through Jon's left shin, drawing blood. Jon grunts and kicks Aragorn between the legs, and the Ranger falls to one knee, only just deflecting an overhand strike by Lord Snow. Aragorn tries to swing again at Jon's leg, but the latter jumps back and the two warriors lock their blades together. Aragorn then frees his left hand and draws his Lorien knife, slashing at Jon's stomach, but the chainmail blocks most of the blow, only brusing Snow. Jon punches Aragorn in the chest with his sword pommel and steps back, then thrusts at Aragorn, slicing his side but not doing much damage. Aragorn puts his left hand to his side and tries to stop the blood, but then shakes away the pain and slashes again at Jon, jarring Longclaw from his hand. Jon draws his dirk and leaps at Aragorn, trying to stab him, but Aragorn grabs his hand and throws him away from his body. Snow rolls down a hill and loses his dirk in the process, leaving him unarmed. As Aragorn gets up and begins to run down the hill to dispatch the Lord Commander, Ghost leaps on him and bites his upper right arm. Aragorn yells and punches Ghost's stomach, forcing him to jump back, and the Ranger grimaces as his wounds start to bleed again. Ghost jumps at Aragorn once more, clawing his face, but after a fierce struggle for a weight advantage, Aragorn gains the upper hand and drops Anduril, takes out his knife, and knees Ghost in the face. Ghost whimpers as his jaw cracks, then Aragorn raises his knife and slashes downwards. Jon, who has been trying to find his dirk, hears the final growl of Ghost and screams, running up the hill to find Aragorn covered in the direwolf's blood, sheathing his knife and picking up Anduril. Jon looks at the body of Ghost, turns to Aragorn with tears trickling, and tries to rush the exhausted Aragorn, dirk raised when Aragorn falls to one knee and stabs with Anduril, impaling Jon Snow on it's Elvish blade. Jon gasps as blood fills his mouth, and he drops his dirk, grabbing at Anduril's blade when Aragorn withdraws the weapon. Jon crumples to the ground, bleeding to death. Aragorn yells out, "ELENDIL!!!!" He wipes clean his sword and, leaning on the blade for support, limps away from the scene.

Aragorn's age, experience, and better knowledge of his weapons has given him the victory. When it comes down to the two heirs of lost dynasties, nothing beats The Lord of the Rings.

Battle vs. Jack Sparrow (by Sppople)[]

Jack Sparrow walked across grassy plainlands. His ship had been stolen and then sunk and he was alone with his weapons and nothing else. "Can't get much worse than this" Jack groaned. The Sky suddenly grumbled and rain poured with rain. "Great" Jack sighed. He strolled even more and came across a village, called Bree. "Hmm" said Jack. "Wonder what this place is doing in the middle of nowhere" He then saw an inn named the Prancing Pony. "Well I'm not complaining" Jack added and ran into the Prancing Pony.

Jack looked around and saw many dark figure laughing and flirting and drinking. "Guess the people who made this inn drank it's drinks before naming it" said Jack. He then saw a dark hooded figure in the corner of the inn, covered in shadows. Jack gulped but then went to ask for a drink. "Oy" He said to the bar man. "I'll have a large cup of rum" The Bar man turned to get some if he had any. "You don't look like you're from here, mate" He said. "Is that really a way to treat a customer?" The Hooded figure in the back of the inn shot up and brought down his hood. "It's true! Is it not?" He yelled. Jack and the Bar man turned to him. "He is a pirate!" He said, pointing at Jack. The Bar man turned to Jack. "You're a pirate?!" He growled. "Well...it's not a hard game to figure it out" Jack replied. The Un-hooded figure then brought out Anduril. "I am Aragorn, the King of Men!" Jack turned. "I see" Jack then brought out a Flintlock pistol. The Battle was about to begin.

Jack shot at Aragorn, who blocked the bullet with Anduril. Jack shot again and again, only to have both shots blocked. Aragorn then leapt upon a table and leapt down and swung Anduril at Jack Sparrow who dodged back. Aragorn then used Anduril to knock Jack's pistol out of his hand. "Alright then" Jack said as he brought out his Cutlass. "On guard" Aragorn swung Anduril at Jack Sparrow who blocked it with his Cutlass. Jack Sparrow then swung his Cutlass onto Anduril, but Aragorn threw it off. Aragorn then kicked Jack Sparrow back, who came back with his Cutlass and struck at Anduril. The two pushed at each other, but in the end, Aragorn pushed Jack back, making him crash into a stack of barrals which all collapsed ontop of him. Jack Sparrow then pushed them off and got to his feet, only for Aragorn to kick him back through the door. Jack Sparrow landed outside and saw Aragorn charge at him. Jack Sparrow triped him up, causing Aragorn to drop Anduril. Aragorn then threw his dagger at Jack, hitting his Shoulder. Jack roared in pain dropping his cutlass.
