Amy Rose predicted from her tarot cards that she would have a "destined" encounter with Sonic on the small satellite known as Little Planet. Amy thus traveled to Little Planet as it made its annual appearance. There, Amy found Sonic and instantly fell in love with, prompting her to grab him in excitement. However, Sonic did not reciprocate her advances.
At Collision Chaos however, Amy was kidnapped by Metal Sonic, Dr. Ivo Robotnik's latest creation and taken into Robotnik's captivity. Fortunately, after Amy got tied up in Stardust Speedway, she was saved by Sonic after he defeated Metal Sonic. After Sonic then defeated Robotnik and the doctor's base began to fall apart around them, Amy was safely carried back to earth by Sonic, where she only caught a glimpse of him running away and setting Little Planet free.
Ever sincee then, Amy has been chasing after Sonic non-stop, always trying to get him to fall in love with her. Despite Sonic constantly rejecting her and literally running for the hills if she's even in his general vacinity, she continues to stalk him, confident that one day, they'll get together.
Battle vs. Ramona Flowers (Comics) (by BeastMan14 and Samurai Santa Claus)[]
Sitting with her legs dangling over the edge of the building she was resting on, Ramona sighed as she watched the headlights of cars and buses zooming by. She had hoped that finding a nice, quiet place like this would help her clear her head, but all it had done was remind just how enormous and bizarre this “DFederal” place really was. Being brought here and being basically thrown in the deep end had been one thing, but finding Scott, her Scott, with another Ramona had been like a sucker punch to the gut.
She had been so happy to see him, to know that through all this, she would at least have him to sort out all the crazy like they always did, but now it seemed to be falling apart. She wasn’t even sure she was mad at him, seeing as he was just with another her, which maybe wasn’t cheating. Or maybe it was? She had no clue. Him and the other Ramona, who looked a lot like her but was just off enough to be unnerving, had both wanted to talk about it, to “explain” something as bizarre as that, but she couldn’t bear to hear it, so she did something she thought she’d long since moved past: she ran, left to find somewhere where she could get her damned head straight. So now, she was just gonna sit here, on this rooftop overlooking the “Middle District”, or whatever the maps around the city had called it, and whenever she figured out what exactly she wanted to do, she’d go back.
There was no rush, since she no longer had anywhere else to go.
Nearby, Amy ran atop the buildings in DFederal, hopping from rooftop to rooftop, her speed making her seem to be a pink blur to the casual observer. At several moments sonic booms followed behind her, the windows on buildings shattering. Many civilians looked up in shock and many others ran for safety. Her brow was furrowed and her teeth were clenched in rage.
How dare they put her Sonic in such a small house in the lower district! And, not only that, but one of the top dogs of this awful city threatened to make him homeless! There was only one way she could help her beloved! She needed a home of her own, a decent one in the middle district, then work her way up until she had the best house in the city! Just for them. Sonic would be so grateful, he'd fall in love with her, then they'd settle down and live happily ever after in this strange city.
But, before she could do any of that, she needed to pick a fight with someone. No… she needed to win! As she ran and leapt across the rooftop, a blur of light green gave her pause, and she backtracked, coming to a stop on one roof in particular, where a crestfallen young woman seemed not to notice her arrival. Summoning her hammer to her hand, Amy slammed it into the ground, snapping the woman out of her contemplation, and then rested against the hilt. Slowly standing to her feet, Ramona warily eyed the pink hedgehog, giving a suspicious glare that only deepened when Amy beamed at her and raised her hammer.
“Name’s Amy Rose! And how about you and me have a fight?”
In response, Ramona simply stared, utterly baffled, then replied, “...No? Look, man, I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I’m really not in the mo-”
She walked towards the stairway and opened the door leading inside, only for Amy, in a blur of motion, to dash forward and slam it shut with her hammer, then point it much closer to Ramona’s face. She scowled, taking a step back, then snapped, “I’m gonna say it again: leave me alone, or you’re going to regret it.”
Amy grinned, twirling the hammer in her hand, and replied, “Well, the love of my life needs a better house, and you look like you wanna blow off some steam, so c’mon. Let’s FIGHT!”
She leapt forward, swinging her hammer downward, but her eyes widened in surprise as Ramona quickly drew a hammer of her own and blocked the strike. Digging her heels in, she grits her teeth as the force of the strike sends her skidding backwards.
“Alright, fine, if it’s the only way to get you to go away, I guess I can kick your ass.”
Amy grinned excitedly, then charged forward, and Ramona winced as she narrowly sidestepped the attack and swung, the hammer connecting with Amy’s jaw and sending her flying. If it hadn’t been for Roxy’s training, that could’ve taken her head clean off. Hurtling through the air and over the edge of the building, Amy recovered quickly and spin dashed into the wall, launching herself forward and back onto the roof. Ramona swings quickly, but Amy continues forward and rolls under the blow, using her momentum to slam into her opponent’s chest.
Ramona gags as the wind is knocked out of her at supersonic speeds and the force of the hit knocks her back, falling just inches short of being knocked off the building entirely. She groans, doing her best to stand when she could barely breathe, then cries out in surprise as Amy leaps up and brings her hammer down. She manages to move her head out of the way, then tries to sweep Amy’s leg out, but the hedgehog leaps over the attack and lashes out with a kick, splitting Ramona’s lip. As Amy tries to land another attack, Ramona fumbles and grabs her hammer, then swings up, narrowly missing but forcing Amy backwards.
Panting, Ramona struggles to her feet, then calls out, “C’mon, you’re really picking a fight over a house for your boyfriend?”
Amy scowls and points the hammer at her, snapping, “He’s not my boyfriend yet, but when he sees what I did for him, he’ll realize just how much he loves me and we’ll be together forever!”
Ramona’s shoulders drop in a mixture of frustration and defeat, and she replies, bitterness dripping off her tone, “I bet this guy seems nice, but trust me, he’s not worth it.”
Amy’s nostrils flared and steam shot out of her ears as she charged forward, roaring, “HOW DARE YOU SAY MY SONIC ISN’T WORTH THE WORLD!”
Before Ramona can even blink, Amy slams her hammer into her chest, sending her flying off the building and into the sky. Tumbling through the air, Ramona groans and braces herself as she smashes through a window, rolling to a stop in the living room of a shocked and confused goateed man. The man shot to his feet, trading his beer for a pistol left on his coffee table, and pointed it at Ramona, who raised her hands defensively.
“Hey, look, this is just as weird for me, so don’t shoot.”
The man kept his gun trained on her, leaving him unable to defend himself as a pink blur rocketed through the hole in his window and slammed into the back of his head, knocking him out cold. Standing over his unconscious form, Amy gritted her teeth and gripped her hammer tightly.
“Oh no, you’re not getting away that easy!”
As Amy prepared to attack, Ramona’s eyes gravitated towards the pantry door in the kitchen, which was helpfully marked with a star, and she nodded in determination, leaping to her feet and sidestepping a swing from Amy. She lunged for the door and yanked it open, grinning as the familiar shine of the rainbow road greeted her, then leapt down. Gently falling, she cursed under her breath as Amy followed close behind, and she quickly dug through her bag to grab her skates, tossing her boots aside to slip and lace them on. She manages to land feet-first and regain her balance just as Amy lands, the hedgehog taking a moment to stare in awe at her new surroundings.
Amy was so distracted by the world of flying piggy banks and stray bits of code, she failed to notice Ramona turning on her heel and skating away until the girl was a fair distance away from her.
“Hey, wait! That’s not fair! No running away, cheater!”
Nearly in range of another door, Ramona yelped as Amy suddenly appeared in front of her and swung at her with her hammer, this blow connecting and sending her backwards. Steadying herself, Ramona took a moment to collect her thoughts, then threw her hammer, taking advantage of Amy easily ducking under it to lunge forward and elbow her in the face. Caught off-guard by the feint, Amy is roughly shoved aside by Ramona, who uses the momentum of the lunge to keep moving, reaching down to grab her hammer then using the doorknob to stop.
As Amy recovers and attacks again, Ramona pulls the door open, wincing as she feels her attacker collide face-first with it, then dashes through it, exiting into an alleyway occupied only by a towering homeless man with a horned helmet atop his small head. He startles awake as Ramona finally comes to a stop, only to cry out again as Amy smashes through the door and tackles her. The two roll into the street, and the homeless man takes a moment to stare at the half-drunk bottle of booze in his hand, then shrug it off and go back to sleep.
Ramona uses her legs to push Amy off of her, then jumps to her feet, holding her hammer with both hands while panting. Meanwhile, Amy landed on her feet, skidding to a stop, then glared at Ramona, growling. Ramona glared back and shouted at her pink adversary, "Why do you even care about this Sonic guy so much? You guys aren't even a couple and yet you act like some kind of love-struck puppy!" Ramona's voice was dripping with venom. "It wouldn't even surprise me if it turned out he didn't want anything to do with you!"
At this, Amy lowered her hammer and looked down, obscuring her face. Her hands clenched into fists and began trembling as her teeth clenched and tears began to well up in her eyes. She slowly raised her head and locked eyes with Ramona, who's eyes went wide as she saw that Amy's emerald pupils were replaced by a blazing inferno of pure rage.
Amy let out her frustration in a single primal shout as a pink aura enveloped her fists and hammer. Amy jumped several meters into the air and launched herself at Ramona, who just barely managed to dive out of the way of the attack, causing Amy to collide with the road, creating a massive crater on impact. As the dust cleared, a pink blur zoomed out of the cloud and rammed into Ramona, knocking her to the ground. Amy raised her hammer over her head and brought it down, Ramona rolled to the left, narrowly avoiding the initial blow which cracked the pavement it connected with. However, a massive pink shockwave erupted from the hammer on impact, launching Ramona into the concrete wall of a nearby building.
"I'll show you…" Amy said coldly as she slowly walked towards her enemy before her voice exploded with passion as she zoomed at Ramona, causing a sonic boom. The resulting shockwave shattered every single window in the surrounding buildings. "I'LL SHOW YOU THE POWER OF LOVE!"
Ramona's eyes slowly opened, but she didn't get to see much before Amy's hammer suddenly appeared in front of her. Amy's enraged scowl was replaced by a calm expression as she closed her eyes and time seemed to slow down around her. I won't let her words get to me. This is for you, Sonic. My love. My everything. We'll skyrocket to the top of this city's pecking order together! Amy's eyes shot open as her hammer connected with Ramona's face, a massive pink shockwave enveloping the area, mere seconds following the impact.
Ramona was sent flying off into the distance as Amy turned around. She rested her piko piko hammer on her shoulder and gave a 'V' sign with her free hand while winking, a glittery pink heart appearing behind her as she did so. "I won!"
Epilogue[]
With a gasp, Ramona’s eyes snapped open, heart beating furiously as her last memory of plummeting towards the ground came back to her. She fumbled around, taking a moment to assess her surroundings and feel that she was not, in fact, about to smash into the pavement, but was instead lying in a hospital bed. She calmed slightly, then froze as she saw the absolute last thing she wanted to see at the moment: Scott, his new Ramona, and a more reserved looking man in a green hoodie all sitting by her bedside.
Seeing that she was awake, Scott smiled anxiously and reached for her hand, but she pulled away, doing her best to ignore the small look of hurt across his face. Her eyes narrowed suspiciously at the green-hooded man, who waved in response.
“Who the hell are you?”
“Oh, I’m Beast. I’m the other Ramona’s boss. Well, not “other” Ramona because you’re both the same, ignoring the difference of adaptation and the creative liberties taken by Edgar Wright on account of Bryan Lee O’Malley not-”
“What?”
He paused mid-monologue and chuckled.
“Yeah I guess that’s a bit much. Anyway, I’m just here to give you this.”
He rummaged through his pockets and handed her a key with an address attached to it, which she took after a moment’s hesitation.
“You lost your fight with Amy, so you got a home in the Lower Class district. Congrats.”
“Fight??? That hedgehog thing attacked me for no reason!”
“Yes, and because of said fight you aren’t living on the streets, so, y’know, in a way you should thank her.”
Feeling both Ramonas glaring at him, Beast coughed awkwardly, then stood to his feet and said, “Now, I’m gonna let you guys sort out...whatever this is while I go and see if the vending machines here are any good.”
With that, he left, leaving the three of them alone. Once they were sure he was gone, Ramona, Scott’s “new” Ramona, cleared her throat and said, “Look, I know this is confusing, because it sure as hell is for me, but I think it would just be better if we cleared the air on this here and now. I love Scott, this Scott, even if he isn’t *my* Scott, but if you want him, I’ll go. Easy as that.”
Arms crossed and leaning back against her pillow, Ramona raised an eyebrow, looking the Ramona she’d decided would be called “New Ramona” over with a mix of surprise and recognition of behavior very much like herself, and asked, “Just like that?”
After a long hesitation, New Ramona nodded, clearly conflicted, and before she could reply, Scott cut her off with a meek, “Do I get a say in this or am I just sort of supposed to sit quietly on this one? Because I can go see what Beast is up to.”
They both answered, “Of course, Scott,” then gave each other a confused expression before letting him speak. Both eyes on him, he shifted nervously in his chair before finally, after letting his mouth hang open for an uncomfortably long moment, speaking.
“I love you, Ramona. Both of you. I always have and I always will, and I just think we’ve been through too much to just end it because we all ended up in whatever this weird city is. So, I wanna make this work, even if none of us have any idea what “this” is gonna look like.”
Having spoken his piece, he slumped back in his chair, eyes fixed firmly on the floor, while the two Ramonas stared at him, mentally working over what he had said. New Ramona spoke first, asking, “So, what? You think we should just try, what, we all date as a group? Baby, that’s just the Katanyagis again, and I can’t-”
“No, the Katanyagis didn’t know that was happening. We do, and I dunno if that’s even what this would be. I just think we should try and take this one step at a time, because I...I don’t want to lose what I found with you-”
He pointed to New Ramona, then Ramona, who sat back, slightly taken aback by the entire speech.
“-but I can’t picture my life without you in it now that I know you’re here.”
Once again, New Ramona spoke first, a quiet, stammered response of, “Scott, I don’t know what to-”
She groaned as she heard a “thud” from the hallway and a polite, if frantic, yell from Beast.
“Ramona! I hate to interrupt but I appear to have gotten my arm stuck in the machine. If you could just come out and shake it a little for me, I think I can free myself and still get these Watermelon Haribos! It’s quite a pickle, so if you could hurry that would be super.”
She rested her head in her hands, then looked up at Ramona.
“Fuck it. Come to my place once you check out of here. We’re gonna talk about this like adults. We’ve got a new life with no way to run from it, so let’s, y’know, work this out.”
Her decision made, New Ramona stepped out into the hallway, grumbling under her breath as she saw the machine sway from side to side from Beast’s effort to pull himself free. This left Ramona and Scott, who looked to her expectantly as she thought her own response over. After a very long (or at least it felt that way) silence, Ramona looked to him and asked, quietly, “Did you really mean all of that? That you really don’t want to give up on me?”
Silently, he nodded, and she replied, “It’s not gonna be easy, you know.”
He grinned, taking her hand and growing more confident when she made no effort to pull away.
“Ramona, I fought a robot and died for you. I headbutted a man so hard he exploded. Nothing with us is ever gonna be easy.”
At this, Ramona broke into a smile, in spite of herself, and said, somewhat confidently, “Then let’s try this. Whatever this is, we can figure it out together.”
They pressed their foreheads together, the frustration and tension melting away in an instant, and smiled, deeply and happily, ready to head into an uncertain future together. Breaking the peaceful quiet, Ramona chuckled to herself, then asked, “Be honest, you wanna try so hard because this fulfills a “Two Ramonas” fantasy, doesn’t it?”
Sheepishly, Scott replied, “I don’t have to answer that.”
Expert's Opinion[]
Despite Ramona's superior intellegence, combat skill, and experience, the expert's all agree that Amy Rose would claim victory because of her superior weapon, supersonic speed, and wider variety of powerful techniques that Ramona didn't have a reasonable counter for.
