Detective Alonzo Harris is a major character in the Training Day franchise, being the antagonist of the first Training Day film and the protagonist of its prequel Training Day: Day of the Riot. Even though he was a highly decorated narcotics officer in the Los Angeles Police Department, Alonzo was very corrupt and worked for the Russian mafia to pay off his debt to them.
At some point, Alonzo killed a Russian mobster in Las Vegas. As punishment for this, Alonzo had to pay the Russian mafia $1 million or be killed himself. To pay his debt in time, Alonzo formulated a plan which involved stealing from Los Angele's lower class and manipulating Jake Hoyt, a rookie he was supposed to evaluate, into taking the fall for him.
At first, the plan went smoothly as Jake was played for a fool and Alonzo was not only able to get the $1 million he needed but also $3 million extra which he planned to use for his own ends. Fortune swiftly turned around for Alonzo, however, when the gangster that was supposed to execute Jake let him go out of gratitude for having saved his cousin from being raped. Jake tracked Alonzo down as he left to pay the Russians and a fight ensued. Alonzo was eventually subdued by Jake, who took the money, intending to submit it as evidence.
Desperate to save himself, Alonzo offered money to the onlooking gangsters if they killed Jake and made threats towards them, to no avail. Alonzo fled to Los Angeles International Airport in a last-ditch effort to save himself, only to be intercepted and shot dead by the Russians.
